Rover v8 remote selector ball cup measurements

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. It looks great.

I am putting a lightly modified rover p6 3.5 v8 into my Mgb Sebring build and I have come across a problem, well this weeks problem. I am missing the ball cup from my remote selector and I can't find one to buy. So I will be making one but to do this I need some dimensions. Would it be possible for someone out there to measure a ball cup for me? I need the lower diameter, upper hole diameter and vertical height.

Alternatively if anyone could point me in the direction of one that's not attached to a gearbox that would be great.

It slides down over the gear leaver and holds the sprung base down.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Thank you,

llochins

Lower OD = 47.5mm
Material is 1.2mm
Upper hole ID is 34mm
Vertical height 32.5mm
Base to the narrowest diameter of top hole 28mm
Slots are 20.5mm high and 8mm wide
The elipse cut out is 11mm high and 33.5 wide - which makes a straight line across the cut out 41mm from the bracket
The OD at the top of the slots is 44mm
The bottom of the angle bracket is 3.5mm below the bottom of the cup.

Hope this is sufficient as its gone back in the shed.

Darkspeed that's amazing thank you so much. That helps immensely. With all of those dimensions we should be able to make one. I can't thank you enough. This is the one thing that's stopping me from putting the engine in at the moment. Great stuff.

I've got to also thank you Gdcobra for planning to measure it for me. You were beaten to it but thank you very much for the intention.

You're welcome - good luck with the rest of the project.

Apparently one from a tractor fits - I saw it on an MG V8 conversion site but unfortunately didn't make a note of the tractor or website... (I did look for the tractor part at the time and found them on ebay)
