Now I need a new T5 gearbox, the one I am going for is the aftermarket Ford Mustang box 1352-000-251.
I have found them for sale at Realsteel, RPI, V8 Tuner and Roadcraft, the latter the cheapest.
Any other suppliers out there in the UK ?

Hi, Like your clutch plate I got my T5 (251) from e-bay as a brand new unit.
After checking I have reached the conclusion it is brand new too.
It came in a Tremac box ..... means F.A. ..... with the original numbers on it.
It is a world class box and with its metal tag, frankly it looks brand new too.
It is a very smooth gear change and after my last cossie T5 with its Quaife straight cut gears its like driving a Rolls, So quiet I can now fit a CD.

Taking my cosworth T5 for a rebuild on Friday to gearboxman.

they advertise T5 boxes with upgraded internals.....

Depending on which type (tail end) you are needing though.

Mike, this is the one that was on Ebay, is this where you got yours ? (scroll down page)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tremec-T5-Gea ... true&rt=nc

Scott, my main shaft is worn in my Cossie box, gearboxman is very good and comes with the highest praise, but they quoted me £624 just to replace the bearings and seals, a fully rebuilt box is £1750 + vat, I can get a new gearbox cheaper than that.

HI, Yes it is ........ I paid the £1700 as that was the price asked when about 15 others were watching the site and bidding. I paid with the "By it now" and sod it. I always wanted one of these 251 boxes anyway.

The price was £1700 ....No VAT but £30 for delivery extra, got it in 48 hours.

Mike, I have had another look at the Ebay T5 box photos, it looks like it has no circlip holding the rubber on the gear lever ? did you notice what year yours was made ? there is a number in the centre of a small round moulding on the gearbox that tells the year. they are all over the gearbox telling what year that part was cast, see pic off the net.

Hi,
Mine came with a circlip but then you could always use your old one.
Good point regarding the year number ..... did not look.... but will now.
I`ll let you know.

If boxes and rebuilds are expensive etc....at what point is it worth considering swapping to a different box, maybe something Japanese ?

Mike have PM back !
Its amazing the trouble I have had just getting info about the gearbox, it arrives tomorrow by the way, half the people say its 330 ft lbs torque the other half including Tremec say its 300 ft lbs, Tremec have been useless at giving me information, completely ignoring some of my emails and instead of answering my questions fob me of to ask Moderndriveline or some other supplier ! the other confusing info I have had is too confusing to write here !
anyhow I have got a lot of work to do when the box arrives its amazing that ive got to change everything especially as its basically the same box as the Cosworth, watch this space ...........

I dont think Tremec themselves really deal with the public.

I've had a couple of answers from them before in the past about T56 and Magnum stuff, but they always just passed me on to Rockland Standard Gear.

I guess a big company like that who mostly sell to the OEM or big retailers....there isnt much need to deal with the public when many of their outlets can handle it
