I think B is an option. have you looked around the engine bay for anything coming loose, engine mount, compression of engine rubbers allowing sump to touch crossmember, etc. also the knock tech has an adjusting screw for sensitivity, can you try and desensitise it

Is the heater mounted higher than the engine, could it be air locking there ?

I've only ever had a shrouded 14" fan on my pop, P6 front end set up and a recored pop radiator, never overheated and I've towed my teardrop behind.

Bowling and grippo do a shift controller if you can get your head round it all.
