I think B is an option. have you looked around the engine bay for anything coming loose, engine mount, compression of engine rubbers allowing sump to touch crossmember, etc. also the knock tech has an adjusting screw for sensitivity, can you try and desensitise it :?

I've only ever had a shrouded 14" fan on my pop, P6 front end set up and a recored pop radiator, never overheated and I've towed my teardrop behind.
I think the curved blade fans are supposed to be more efficent

Bowling and grippo do a shift controller if you can get your head round it all. You say "fuel pressure set to 44 psi" is that with the vacuum pipe disconnected ? it will be a bit lower at idle when reconnected
