Re: Engine fails to start after rebuild.
Few things spring to mind.
Battery low on power after 18 months. Perhaps add jump leads to crank till it runs long enough to fully recharge.
Spark leads, is the right one going to the right plug?

Re: Oil pressure weirdness!
Had you changed anything?
Example just changed oil and not pre-filledthe filter, on startup it first has th fill the filter.
Just a thought?

Re: Gudgeon pin/little end offset and power.
Question, if you put the pistons in backwards will you get interference between con rod and bottom of cylinder/sleeve?
I know on Ford when you put in stroker cranks you have to notch the bottom of the cylinders blue to said interference.

Re: Master cylinder question.
Was it a self bleeding system on the front brakes? Way back heat generated in the calipers was a problem and in some cars they developed a master cylinder that opened one port slightly earlier than the other so Press brake pedal and both ports are closed and the pressure clamps the calipers. Release...

Re: D1 3.5 V8 not starting
From memory
The Hotwire system has 3 relays, one of them powers the fuel pump, I know I needed to replace that relay once.
There is also a black wire that goes to air flow meter, if you bumped that off by mistake the engine will not start.

Re: 4 barrel carb options
That is unless you are forced to have merge slip collectors for the bundle of snakes, and the O2 sensor can sometimes see air drawn in through the merge collector.
PITA in that case!

Re: 4 barrel carb options
Holley does a 390 and the next size up is 600 cfm. The 390 would work on a fairly standard 3.5 and be restrictive at higher revs.the 600 is suited to 5.0 and up. So when you are looking for a 3.9 or 4.6 you are looking for something between the 2 Holley variants and the Weber Edelbrock one at 500 cf...
