Not that long since i replaced it ... On closer inspection theres a clear crack right throught it from inside the hole ... Its crazy how something so small can cause all the problems .. ........ Not too bad the timing chain did need changing anyway , very slack , even made grooves in the case .. :sh...

Omg ...all that for faulty rotor arm ... not until i swapped it for a old spare one that it cured it all !!!

Engine cold , im puzzled because it does it on both lpg and petrol ..but petrol seems to last longer ... makes no differance if its ticking over or reving it just dies ..just like its switched off ...

It seems to start when its cold .. big fat spark from the king lead when rocking the rotor arm back and forth ....
.. and from the plug when cranking

Update : Ok now ive sorted the timing issue ...my cock up !:) It now running when it feels like it ... it ran fine on both lpg and petrol this morning ...even took it for a drive .. it runs fine , loads of power Got back and tryed to start it and now it wont run for more than a couple of minutes ? A...

Mines the one on the left ...but now with no vac unit
i never had it piped in anyway so ive removed it and fixed the base plate in the correct place .. now !! Lol
It now allows me to rotate the dizzy a lot further too

Just wondering if the trigger pickup line up , does that mean the rotor arm is directly in line with terminal on the cap ?

Dave , ive been out there all day again ... Great minds and all that ..i looked at that and just couldnt make it out .. It wasnt until i cut open an old dizzy cap and then i could see it ... with the sensor lined up the rotor arm had already passed the cap pickup ... Then i measured the vac unit arm...

Hi :D No all as shoud be in that respect .. no 1 on the right nearest the dizzy if you stand in front of the engine looking back Im totally baffled now .. static timing is as should be ie: TDC ( PULLEY MARKS) = rotor arm pointing at no 1 plug lead .. the dizzy is at that point so the vacumn unit is ...

i know how to check if its at tdc and if its on compression stroke ! :D So do I...doesnt mean I've never done it wrong before...and before...and before lol The symptoms do sound like rotor phasing is wrong, or as otherwise suggested rotating the dizzy is affecting wiring in some way interfering wit...

if you follow the instructions given above, the location of the vacuum can has nothing to do with the alignment. If the rotor is pointing to the post that connects to the spark plug in cylinder 1 when just before tdc for compression stroke of cylinder 1 - its timed correctly. thats it eliot , thats...

The static timing is fine
It just wont run unless its way advanced

i know how to check if its at tdc and if its on compression stroke ! :D

Static timing is fine , ive tried moving the leads round the cap ...it makes no differance It will run but very badly ... when i put the strobe on it its so far ahead of the timing marks on the flywheel that even 12 degrees BTDC is at least 3 inches away , any attempt to rotate the dizzy to bring th...

Right then ... Rover v8 3.5 , efi ... with electronic std dizzy .. I swapped over the dizzy one that was exactly the same type etc ...but id been cleaning it ... anyway after changing it over it wouldnt run properly if at all So i put the orignial dizzy back and still no joy ... ive checked the timi...
