Hi all
I am toying with the idea of getting a 4.6 warrior engine for my P6, anyone had any experience of this engine?

Re: Jag diff into P6
Thank you, I built it myself Well ok, Rover built it in 1975 but I rebuilt it myself.
Build thread is over here - http://www.classicroverforum.net/index. ... ork.26263/

Re: Jag diff into P6
Thank you JSF55, there's certainly some interesting stuff in those. I know I'm jumping the gun here, but I've been looking at brake bias proportioning valves. There's some real cheapies, which I'll not bother with, some from Wilwood at around £50 or so, OBP which look to have the same manufacturer, ...

Re: Rover V8 Starter Motor Wiring
I would take it off and give it a good once over. Check everything moves as it should, check the starter pinion moves out to engage with the starter ring. If the solenoid had a bit of rust in it, just moving it in and out by hand a few times, could well loosen it up. If it is just the solenoid stick...

Re: Jag diff into P6
I've got the calipers off, along with the discs, which are basically scrap :( (the discs, not the calipers). They were very fiddly to get at, heaven knows how difficult they are to get off when they are still on the car. I'll be rebuilding the calipers, new pads and discs so I can hopefully fit and ...

Re: Rover V8 Starter Motor Wiring
I take it that you have a good earth from the battery to the chassis, and also from the chassis to the engine. If you have, then you can test it by connecting the large red cable to the left hand terminal as you say, then carefully :) short out the terminal to the one at 6 o'clock with a hefty screw...

Re: Jag diff into P6
Cheers Devonman, I'll give that a go tomorrow. I did drain the oil today and was going to remove the rear cover tomorrow for a quick visual check, no more than to check the teeth are ok, and check there's nothing lying in the bottom of the casing :) It does have a tag with 2.88 on it, as well as ano...

Jag diff into P6
I am about to enter into the unknown; fitting a jag diff into my P6 I really wanted a 2.88 LSD jag diff, but couldn't find one anywhere, so ended up bidding on entire axle on ebay. Surprisingly, I won the auction :) I can't remember how long I've had this and don't have many ideas on how to fit it y...

There's no such thing as a 3.08:1 gearbox Dave, the Rover gearbox is a 1:1. It used to be connected to a 3.08 Diff when in the P6. You need a high geared Diff, the highest you can get so you can bring that rpm down. 2.88 would be the best one with a vehicle like yours, but a 3.07 would suffice if th...

Hi Dave I think you're getting a bit mixed up with ratios The original gearbox would "probably" had a fourth gear ration of 1:1 same as the Rover box. The differential (diff - final drive) ratio on the Humber may have been 3.54:1, and the diff ratio on the P6 3500S was 3.08:1 Just to give you some i...

Hi Dave A little unsure by what you mean when you say, "the rover p6 3500s gearbox which is a 3.54 ratio " I have a Rover P6B ( V8 ) and the gearbox in top is 1:1 ratio, with a diff ratio of 3.08. (The standard 3500S that is, mine's an LT77 now). What are you trying to achieve here, is the car for r...

I bought my P6 with a 4L CB engine already in it, but it did have the standard 3.5L dip stick and knowing what a mess the PO had made fitting the engine, I read up on it. I found that the maximum level on the dip stick was sufficiently below the level of the crank throw so it would not splash into t...
