Serpentine crankshaft pulley.
I have been slowly getting the parts required to change the front of my Rover v8 engine from the original V belt drive to the serpentine belt system. Have now got the correct crankshaft pulley, but noticed that there is a groove worn into the pulley by the timing cover oil seal. Any ideas how i can ...

Valve stem seals.
Education required, please.
Why are valve stem seals only fitted to the inlet valve and not the exhaust valve?
Would it be an advantage to fit to both valves?

Sump gasket.
Where does it say it is rubber? I purchased one of these a couple of years ago. When I received it I queried the material with the supplier, as I expected it to be similar to the material that the upgraded rocker cover gaskets are made of, as it looks like. Do not know what material it is made of, p...

Another update!
As stated in my last post, although on the road I am not happy with it and is a pig to drive, so it has just been left on the drive! Had another go at it today as I bought a Holley 390CFM carb. and just fitted it. Thought that the Edelbrock 500CFM carb. originally fitted could have been too big. Sti...

New alternator.
Building up a serpentine front end on my Rover V8 engine and the standard alternator is too big to clear the bonnet on the Stag. Have tried the TVR and Morgan brackets but with the same problem. Now realise I need a smaller, physical, size alternator. Have been to the websites of the main manufactur...

Intermediate front cover oil cooler connections.
Can't seem to find out how to add photos, so I will try and explain without. I am building up a 4.2 Rover v8 engine with an intermediate front timing cover. I will not be using an oil cooler so need to blank off the oil cooler connections. My idea is to use an O ring with a flat washer behind it and...

Hotwire AFM.
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a 5 pin and 6 pin airflow meter for the Hotwire fuel injection system.
Looking at the wiring diagram it would appear that there are only 4 pins used, 2,3,5 & 6.
Just out of interest.

Update.
Always think it is good to give an update when you solve a problem especially when so many of you have contributed with help and advice, may also help anyone with a similar problem. Over the winter I bit the bullet and decided to check the camshaft timing, as suggested in a previous reply. Camshaft ...
