Re: Ignition system setup from scratch!

Whether dizzy or points really makes no difference. Set TDC cyl1 compression in the normal way, and then most basic way for dizzy, ensure the rotor arm points at cyl1 lead. As you will also be able to see either the points open, or tooth pass the sensor inside the dizzy, that will give a slightly cl...

Re: Replacing fuel hose

I would doubt two tanks of fuel would pose a problem to any hose in good condition.

The less joins on any run of pipe the better. But plenty of people have used copper pipe as fuel line without any real problems.

Re: Rover 3.5 V8 Carb (Issues)

pointless firing the parts cannon. I'd say your erratic rev counter is either the problem, or a symptom of the same problem on the LT side as mentioned above. Without some proper tools to test spark, hard to suggest what the best route to take is. Check all wiring though, for loose or poor connectio...

Which cam would you recomend then? Kent's H180 seems like a good fit for my purpose.
I'd advise contacting a specialist and discussing your requirements and goals.

The likes of V8 Developments etc who will have extensive testing

Re: P38 4.6 Engine upgrade

Back to earlier posts then, I would say absolutely there are gains to be had from a cam swap. With a lack of engine size, lack of boost, then you need to do traditional tuning. Which is simply improving airflow. A bit of mild porting and cleanup of the ports, and especially valve seat area will help...

add boost...it really is the best option to add torque.

Re: Rover V8 cylinder head porting advice.

Just reading up on all this porting and larger valves. Is the effort worth the result? Really interested to hear how it feels as well as if it made a difference to fuel consumption and hp/torque figures. Cheers Really depends what you are happy to spend for whatever result you are hoping to achieve...

Re: Spade connectors

Not overly fond of spades in general, especially the typical red/yellow/blue types. Pretty much all are crap really, and yes pretty much everything from China of poor quality But you could maybe try this sort of thing, adhesive lined heat shrink connectors. I've never ordered from this place or used...

Why does Rimmer list it as "steering module" diode pack ?

Jagbits something else

Re: Too rich / too lean

The main load metering parameter of the system is the airflow meter. If this voltage output relative to airflow is incorrect, then fueling will be wrong, and it only takes millivolts in error. So first port of call would be scoping voltages from this ( although you'd need a reference to compare to )...

Most businesses that do custom work will be busy, and it's a slow process.

And if they are any good, they'll be even busier ! Just the way things are.

Re: Toyosport AVOID at all costs

Pro Alloy make their own cores, Docking Engineering also make cores. CSF is another core supplier. There will be others too who use various core suppliers. But there are huge differences between some cores. Some are really crap, especially the cheap chinese stuff. Most flow ok, but won't cool for po...

Re: Toyosport AVOID at all costs

you should be able to chase it with the credit card company ?

Distance selling rules and all that.

Plenty of places to make a unit, ideally with a Garrett core. They are just superior to the rest. When limited for space/size, core efficiency is all the more important

Re: Rover v8 mx5 won't rev up

Would this indicate the centrifugal weights are sized? Is there any way to co firm this prior to replacing the dizzy? Thanks all! If the weights were seized, then the arm would not move relative to the drive shaft. Simple way to be sure...take it apart, turn it, look. And of course check timing wit...

Re: Rover v8 mx5 won't rev up

To clarify, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 round the dizzy, clockwise Time for a comp test I think to see if I'm wasting my time with this engine 😊 Would it be possible to adjust the timing. Retard 10 degrees or advance 10 deg? I've read that to set it correctly you advance until it pings then take it back slight...
