On a lazy RV8 engine I can't see a real downside with too much oil- unless you have worn valve guides and it now smokes excessively.

Serpentine fronts have water pumps that run anti clockwise, V-belt water pumps run clockwise, so it's not an ideal swap. Personally I would rather run a serp belt, less power loss, sprung tensioner means no maintenance and just a nicer more modern look!

Minor update to keep the thread ticking along, I cut the bottom of the old Nash sump off, folded up a new profile and have started welding it on. The valley in the bottom will have 3 holes cut for scavenge points for the dry sump pump, and I have ordered some stainless mesh to line the bottom with a...

Hi guys, not a lot of progress really with work being so busy, but I have managed to cut my sump in half (to convert to dry sump) and finally finished fabricating the new main oil gallery that will feed everything from the dry sump pump. I have put AN12 inlet from the pump, and an AN8 outlet that wi...

Thanks Chris, I didn't realise the RV8 ones had a probe that sticks out, I'll be using megajolt or Nodiz, can I use a proper RV8 sensor or should a Ford one work that everyone seems to use for aftermarket systems?

Right then, getting married- done, moving in- done, projects- far from done! Back to reality, can someone tell me if the crank position sensor is supposed to sit like the first or second picture? The flex plate is from a late 4.0 RV8. http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp272/topcatproduction/IMG_201...

The faster an engine revs the less load the cam lobes (the tips) see, the lifter is riding up the side of the lobe so quickly when it gets to full lift it wants to keep going but the spring pushes it against the cam. If it is rotating slowly then the valve spring keeps much more pressure against the...

What fuel pressure regulator are you using, and have you recently checked the timing? I had constant problems with a Holley fuel pressure regulator so will never use one again when Filter King make a much better product, and I also had backfires caused by not enough advance (albeit a blower engine).

Cheers Mike, planning on making a tapered plenum with 4" inlet at the front to feed them, Chris- as it's blown do I really need balance pipes between inlets? Wasn't planning on bothering.

I did consider it- or a bonnet mirror! So- today I managed to actually put a few hours in and brought the head down to my workshop, where I milled the 15mm thick flanges to suit the head (I drilled and tapped 2 extra holes for the ends), I milled the 2" carb flanges last week, so I turned a taper to...

Ford leaf spring bushes, these are transit ones, cheap and cheerful on ebay! Here's how the chassis looks at the moment, axles fitted properly now, all major welding etc complete, crank nose is being machined to accept the BBF front pulley, flywheel adapter is being drilled so once back I'll re-asse...
