Hmmm, good point. I guess that seeing as it worked well before, the best way to replicate the arm position is to fit a pivot pin 20mm shorter...
Good point althogh I must admit I got a bit lost with what you have when it worked if I'm honest.

Re: 2wd R380 V8 clutch pushrod length

Thanks for that Chris. Thinking about it logically, the pedestal the pivot pin screws to is 20mm shorter, so a pushrod 20mm longer should be what I need. I've found a 118mm version listed for an LDV, so will see how that fits. It is just possible to change one in situ, just a bit fiddly. Or a least...

Re: LT77/R380 interchangeability..

Morning all, A few questions for the gurus....seeing as the R380 is an updated LT77... 1. Will the LT77 rear cover fit the R380 and still have the pump etc functional? 2. Is the output shaft interchangeable from LT to R series boxes? I have an ex-Discovery 2 R380 that ate the input pinion and I'm t...

Re: Bellhousing for Mazda mx5 box to Rover V8

What are you trying to achieve ? What is wrong with a regular LT box etc ? or other more common options ? LT77s are very thin on the ground these days and what are around probably need rebuild and I don't think parts are plentiful. R380s are newer and (apparently) inherently stronger but not many 2...

Yet another query to my previous two posts ive read on here opel manta 2.0 stem seals fit older sd1 heads has anuone fitted them ??? Not really keen on taking off heads if there not going to fit May be worth investigating renewing the seals without removing heads, I've heard of people doing it by t...

http://forum.britishv8.org/read.php?6,65883 not cheap at all https://shop.v8engines.com/manual-gearboxes-and-parts-14-c.asp The RPi kit is not cheap but does include all the parts necessary including clutch, throw-out bearing and one or two other bits and pieces for the MGB, it's also a brand new b...

Yeah, that's how mine felt, a quick and obvious increase in drag as it started pulling the oil through.
Good news?

Re: Bellhousing for Mazda mx5 box to Rover V8

Just had a look at the RPi offering. Looks like they sell it as a conversion (at £4.6k) which seems to be specific to the MGB. May not be too bad if you have a top spec' MGB worth plenty of money but it's a fair chunk of change otherwise. From the photo's it looks like the front casing of the 'box i...

Re: Bellhousing for Mazda mx5 box to Rover V8

Isn't the bell housing on the Mazda box integral with the main casing? From the ones I've seen I'd say you are correct, integral bell-housing. May be possible to create an adaptor though. Wouldn't be cheap I'd imagine. If you could get hole pattern data for the engine's rear end and the bell-housin...

Re: Oil Warning light on !

I've never understood upside down filter mounting. It's just so idiotic on every level. Even normal upright mounts always spill oil....but who on earth thought upside down would be great ! lol Yeah, even though you can get around the issue when mounting it you're always going to get spills when rem...

Re: Oil Warning light on !

I would totally disagree. Where possible, always fill the filter. so called unfiltered oil is a moot point. Most filters have an internal bypass, so you can be sure at times will be bypassing regardless. So a little drop of new clean oil is of no concern. After 3 minutes, you most definitely should...

Re: Oil Warning light on !

During the priming process the drill was turning in a clockwise direction and for roughly 3 minutes, but no joy. I have removed the oil sensor from the oil pump and checked it using a multi meter and bike pump and the sensor works so this suggests a lack of priming in the pump. So, I have also remo...

Re: LT77 gearbox

Another thing to try is replace the bushes that hold the gearstick extension on. My gear-change got noticeably better after I spent a bit of time changing them and cleaning that area up. Regards, David I made up some Aluminium bushings for mine which did improve it, possibly increases NVH a bit but...

Re: Oil Warning light on !

How long did you have the oil pickup uncovered? I dropped oil from my engine a while back and didn't re-fill for a few days (during winter, had other jobs on) and when I filled up and started again no pressure, seems the oil had all dribbled back from the pump so no longer primed. I have a priming t...
