The manifold just bolts up to the 3.9 the same as the 3.5 - just as hard or just as easy. I have a 3.5 manifold on my 4.6 at the moment and it just bolted up - do not tightened any bolts until you have them all in with only a few threads in contact then tighten them up.

Yes - is the booster connected to a small bleed port in the manifold or a proper large bore bore specifically the size for a booster? Also the brakes seem to be a mish mash of components that may not be compatible with each other. I doubt a vaccum pump will fix the issue if the same size plumbing as...

If you are having problems you then need to look at the plumbing to the booster (do you have it off the right takeoff - the pipe/outlet is about 10mm in size) or you have a booster problem. If the problem persists you could always put in an alternator from a TDI or TD5 which has a inbuilt vacuum pum...

The slipped liner problem occurred with the 3.9, 4.0 and 4.6 engines.

As the 4.2 is a stroked 3.9 with the same bore etc then the same problem could occur.

However in this case, I doubt the noise would be a slipped liner and is more likely simply a sticking lifter and will loosen up with use.

The 4.6 I recently build was a low km engine and only needed the bores honed and the crank polished - discussed the cam bearings and not needed for that level of use - full rebuild yes - a touchup no.

Good luck with it.

I think that if the engine has had enough wear to require reboring or relinering, then crank bearings etc will also be worn out - ergo the cam shaft bearings will be also be very worn - given what you have described as to the age of your engine then that is a reasonable assumption and your engine bu...

Yes Chris makes a good point having just been through this process myself. You mention it has a serpentine system but that is not so relevant as they can have either cam or crank driven oil pumps. You dont mention what engine it is. If a cam driven oil pump remove the dizzy and using a drill with an...

The basic engine does not need running in as such - as long as it is driven sensitively with no lugging or long low load periods. The camshaft is a different matter - this requires constant running at 2000-2500rom for about 20-25 minutes. I would buy specific running in oil that contains various add...

Yes I have the Edis 8 module - bought from the UK. The last Escorts were sold here in about 1975. Our small Fords were asian sourced but had Brit names - eg our Ford Fiesta was a Kia, our Ford Corsair was a Nissan Pintara, our Ford Laser was a Mazda 323. Our Corsair was replaced by the first Mondeo ...

The Discovery 2 V8 used the Thor - Bosch Motronics System. We have our own engines in large Ford vehicles here and these cars did not use EDIS 8 - the only vehicle I can find that used Edis 8 here was the imported Mustang which was not a popular car here and virtually non were sold. Smaller vehicles...

Could you not use the original dizzy to run in the cam? The engine does not have a dizzy or the ability to run one without major modification - hence the use of edis to do this - if I could be guaranteed that MS will work straight off then there is no need for Edis but there is not a big chance of ...

Thanks firstly I need leads that are freely available in remote locations.

Yes I want to use Edis 8 to run in the engine cam as no MS will be fitted at the time.

Thanks - I want something I can easily buy local if I have issues and the Ford special ends are not common here - if I had known of this issue I would never have got these coils. I want the engine to be running before the MS3 is installed so the Edis for the the moment and once I have issues sorted ...

EDIS 8 and Discovery 2 V8 Coil Packs

I have a set of new coil packs to use on my RV8 build which with have MS3 and EDIS 8. The coils fit a 95 on Mondeo, Escort or Fiesta - of those only the Mondeo was sold here and are virtually non existant. The issue is that these coil packs used an odd center pin contact arrangement (well odd here) ...

Thanks - the Motoronic system and injectors are all Bosch - everything before was Lucas - now the injectors may be the same but should not be assumed to be so.

Cheers
