3.5 rover Sump gasket. Rubber ?

Is it possible to buy a 3.5 Rover V8 sump gasket in rubber ? I am not happy with the cork type gaskets that seem to leak or weep in a very short time, I am not over tightening them either, its just that they are pants !

any ideas on suppliers if they do exist ?

I see, so me milling up a lump of alloy to make a nice new compact pulley will do the engine no favours. dammit !! Is there perchance a company who sell nice shiny new pulleys with the rubber damper ring ? this thing on the front of the motor looks like a blind man designed it. Thanks for the info s...

Harmonic dampers/crank pulleys.

I have a slightly hotted up V8 rover engine, I want to know what options are available to me with regards to tidying up the front crank pulley, At the moment its got the SD1 pulley on it with three different belt slots and a metal plate thing bolted to the front. I have no Air con, no power steering...

Sorry about posting this in a nice tidy topic but i have what i suspect is an LT77 box, It looks the same as an LT77 i am fitting to my Manta but when i went to try and ID this box from the oval flat area by the drain plug i found that not only was the number not there but the machined area was miss...

The wheels fitted to the Manta are Borbet A. they are 16inch with 215/40/16 tyres. the engine is a 3.6 Rover V8 with an unknown LT77 5 speed manual box. At the moment the axle is standard manta but the SD1/manta hybrid is almost ready to go in. I will look at the box tomorrow and get the numbers off...

To Be honest a mate has offered me a 2.84 and it is seeming like a very attractive offer, i dont want balls out acceleration from standstill but a good lick of speed for lower revs when actually moving would be nice.

Crown wheel and pinion ratios plus LSD questions. SD1 axle

I have a Rover V8 (3.6, offy 360, edelbrock500) and an LT77 manual box. I have removed the diff casing out of an SD1 axle by cutting and removing the axle tubes and have fitted the axle tubes from an Opel Manta so i have the correct spring hangers and halfshafts to allow me to run manta wheels. The ...

The 262 dogleg boxes fetch strong money, i have seen people pay £700 for a worn one and up to £1000 for a minter.

I have one in one of my Mantas and it is a good strong box but the final drive is 1 : 1, no overdrive, mine came from a BMW 535M

I am going to blast the manifolds when i take them off at the weekend, i was going to paint them again but thought if i paint them then added wrap it might look better for longer.

I have seen the black wrap which is what i was considering, the engine is mostly black anyway.

hmmm.

Exhaust manifold wrap.

I have a pair of home made mild steel exhaust maniflods on my Rover V8, they are very smartly made but even if i paint them with VHT paint inside a few weeks they go scabbly looking again with surface rust. I want to get some of that exhaust bandage stuff and wrap them up. Is it worth it ? is this s...

I had thought about the T5, how hard is it to find a bellhousing for one of these ? The other thing that crossed my mind was a 6 speed box, were these fitted to TVRs ? I would imagine them to be quite pricy if they do exist. one of the problems i face is i am down in Penzance in cornwall so not very...

Gearbox swop options.....

I have a 3.5 Rover V8 in an Opel Manta B, At the moment it has an auto box in it which works fine but i would prefer a manual box. The question is which box is prefered by other users, I have a Rover SD1 5 speed manual box and bellhousing which could go in the car but when i drove a similar car i fo...
