Oh I do like the P6 in your link Andrewrv8 I built one that looked a bit like that, back in day - haven't got any pics of the finished car though :( - here are a couple of pics during the build, prior to the alloys, and finishing off of the painting https://image.ibb.co/fX5wA6/9tdog.jpg https://imag...

Finally got a few minutes to finish this off :D Tidied everything up, replaced the front scuttle, put the wipers back (been doing some work getting them to work better), started him up and went for a spin. He used to just tear up hills from low revs, but when the misfire arrived, this was the worst ...

I frequent a few motor forums and they've all gone quiet, except for a bike forum which still burbles along rapidly. I joined facebook to keep in touch with family, but found myself being drawn into it all. I found that I have nearly 200 friends, and well over half I have never met. So, all facebook...

Hi Dave

No, the misfire is fairly regular, but the tach jump isn't, they don't coincide. I'll take it for a few runs in the week and see if it improves at all.

I can try the IDM again, I'll let you know how that goes :)

Cheers

Can't find a, "lost sync reason," field anywhere ? I have disconnected the ign live from the main relay, and wired into the back of the tacho instead. The tach adaptor is sitting at the back of the engine compartment on the top of the heater box, under the front scuttle. I have fixed it there, then ...

It works, nearly perfectly :)

Just now and then, it bounces up or down, but only very briefly, but is certainly very useable, so success :)

Only problem is, I now have a slight misfire :?

Same as mine :)

I hope to get it plugged in tomorrow Dave, so will let you know how it goes.

Cheers

Mine only switched the relay when the voltage was high enough. Using the internal circuit, which bounced from 0.5V to 9V at 86 on the relay, it would only buzz above 6V or so.

Using the external home made one, the voltage was stable at 5.4V and didn't switch the relay at all :)

Out with the multi meter - right with this circuit the relay buzzes intermittently. With the engine running, the voltages are +ve side of coil (85)- 14.3V, -ve (86) - jumped from 0.5V to 9V and all points in between. Voltage at JS3 jumped around from 1V to 4.5V. https://image.ibb.co/cjY5T6/ECU_Circu...

Hi Dave hmmm... So I can try to remove the 2N222 and replace it with the 2N5551 in the ECU - I am not good enough at soldering to do that :( Or.. cut both the red and orange wires in the ECU and solder them together, to bypass the circuit in there, and then have a wire direct from the JS3. Then run ...

I've added a relay and now have this https://image.ibb.co/nyD586/addedextra.jpg I took the switching gear out of the relay as it wasn't needed but this meant I couldn't listen to it to check it was working correctly, so I went out and bought a new one. Started the car and the tacho sat at 750-800 rp...

I have a spare transistor, so can make up another one tomorrow. Is there any way I can test the transistor before starting, in case I have some from a bad batch?

When I started this morning, I checked the circuit and got 12.6V on the +ve side of relay and 0V on the -ve. I googled to 2n5551 and managed to convince myself that I had the wrong way round, so built a circuit board with it the other way round. Now if I put a 12V supply across the circuit, I get 12...
