Re: 87 Hilux, 3.5 RV8 Cooling query

From your pictures I would put the pressure cap on the radiator and the sealing cap on the header tank

Re: 87 Hilux, 3.5 RV8 Cooling querynk

Welcome to the world of cooling issues.😀 First I would get a sealing cap but preferably with a pressure release valve on it so you can release any air caught at the high spot. I would fill on the header tank and then put the sealing cap there on. When the engine warms the fluid would be pushed out t...

Re: High Oil Pressure

Remove king pin lead from distributor so it does not start and crank the engine

Put lots of rags and catch tank underneath and hopefully the oil flow will push it out

Re: Most Suitable Coolant

Best coolant pure water.

But if you are in cold climate you need an antifreeze.
And most antifreezes also have inhibitors and lubricants for pumps etc.

Hope it all works. Sometimes it is the easy and basic bits that cause all the problems.

Re: Engine stumbles powering thru corners

Presume Facet red top? If so it is marginal at your horse power. These can draw fuel but do not really suck so hopefully you have the pump near the tank! Clean the pre filter on the pump. What orientation is the pump? Up down, north south or east west un the chassis? They should be fitted up down wi...

Intermittent fault on either gauge or sender?

Huge fluctuation in battery voltage causing gauge to read wrong

For less than £10 buy a new one! https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/quick-battery-disconnect-terminal If you have one of these in the circuit https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/battery-isolator-cut-off-switch-standard-version That would more likely be the cause……. Cut a circle of Manila card diameter of the k...

Re: LED question

Your oil pressure is extremely low at hot idle and the LED flickers. An incandescent bulb takes Xx times longer to glow and the amount of current getting through does not allow it to do so. Would be my guess. Easiest fix is a slightly heavier oil but you then need to take it easy on warm up as it wi...

Re: Can Anyone Help?

Tell him to start it at night in the dark and look at the spark plug wires, he could have arcing across a couple of leads.

Shows easily as a spark show and by moving a couple of wires he could save a trip to the garage.
