4 pot vs Single calipers

I have been pondering a few things about brakes for my new project, Most modern cars use single pot sliding calipers, the reason I think they are used, they are easy to make, Modern cars have the disc sandwiched between the wheel and the hub, the wheel makes a superb heat sink as the caliper has ver...

I am a great believer in making sure all the air that hits the rad goes thru the rad, Air is like water, it will find the easiest route, all my rads are ducted, and any route where the air can flow past the rad are sealed, I have never had a problem with overheating once this procedure has been gone...

Slack in the chain is normal, its tight on one side when its driven, which is the side that the timing is taken from, its a relativly short chain, so a tensioner is not needed, all they do is keep the slack winding up on over run and jumping teeth on single cam engines

Similar size to what I had on my cortina, 225/50/15, on 8" compomotive MLs, I used Toyo 888Rs, superb tire, and surprisinly good in the wet too.

I tried the restrictor idea when I started using Rollers, with a 2.5mm hole it took all of one trip around the block to kill a set of adjustable pushrods, fortunately the RR cup inserts were made of harder stuff,

Helicoils, you need to buy a kit, that includes the Specific tap for the helicoils, threads normally attain full strength at around 4 turns. you should drill the thread to the correct tapping size too. this MUST be kept parallel to the block. get it pissed and the tap will follow, creating all sorts...

I would go for a steel flywheel every time, after killing a flywheel up the pod a few years ago, something about the clutch wear dosent look right, the wear looks uneven across the pads, should the flywheel have been machined for a raised platform for the friction surface??? I ran a Helix convention...

You cant easily unilug or re-drill steels, firstly unilugging uses elongated bolt holes and sleeve nuts, you cant use sleve nuts on steels safely and elongating holes in steels destroys the built up and taper seat where the steels rely on that for strength and locking the nuts, possibly centralising...

Well I suppose I am biased, I ran ITBs on my rover, and the noise was epic, I still get comments from people who used to see it around town telling me how good it sounded, and one comment that will stay with me, from a fella who is not known for his compliments, and a hotrodder who only had good wor...
