Chris.
That's interesting - wonder if it's possible to fit new seals? If you can get them. I have several which are sound, but leaking.

yes you can fit the RR front cover if it all fits bellow the bonnet line and behind the radiator. As said it all sits a lot higher which is why the saloons are the way they are. You would also have to fit all the pulleys and brackets from the RR as well and maybe the alternator. I thought there wer...

Tom.
I suspected something like that. Wonder if the different front cover could be used on an SD1? Just looking towards the future if they can't be got at any price.

There are several different ones used on the SD1. I've got an EFI which seems to be the difficult one.

Water pump differences.

The pump on my SD1 EFI is leaking, and new ones cost an arm and a leg. RR EFI ones from the same period are cheap. So what's the difference? I have obtained a new one - but the supplier says they are no longer made. So it might be prudent to know which parts have to be changed to use an available on...

Re: Does the hotwire have a feed for the oil pressure switch

As above, does the hotwire injection system have a feed to the oil pressure switch to prevent it starting without oil pressure? Im chasing a fault on mine thats stopping it fuelling and this was one of the things i thought of. Also will the engine fire without the Throttle position switch plugged i...

On just the one side or both? I do use that trick on the rocker covers, gluing the gasket to the cover, but the sump has far more fixing bolts to locate it.

Presume you mean the 5speed ZF?, as the bellhousing is removeable on the 4speed ZF (4HP22/4HP24)

Chris.
Yup.

Re: sump gasket

Hi Guys, I have purchased a new sump gasket for the rover v8 sd1 engine, i have always got the cork type gasket and this type heavy duty (ebay advertised gasket) is a better type , less likly to leak/split. What method do you all use to seal it best???????? Andy Think generally these 'rubber' types...

Autos are a bit more restrictive since no maker mated a 5 speed to the RV8 or indeed a four to a RWD only app - apart from the Sherpa van. The ZF4HP22 4 speed auto was fitted to the Sherpa in V8 RWD configuration. It was also fitted to the Range Rover in V8 4WD, and countless Beemers, Volvos in RWD...

thanks Katanaman & Dave! I'm getting the feeling that I should re-think my strategy! Since this is my first V8 project and as I would like to use it as an everyday car the last thing I want is for things to break down. I heard the ford 4 speeds were tough & reliable but maybe only to an extent. So ...

The box wont take the power for long or rather the OD wont take it. They fail behind a 3.0 all too often in the Scims. Thats why they are limited to OD in 4th as 3rd breaks them rapidly. It will be a clunk click box as well which also aren't very strong never mind having an awful shift unless the l...
