Re: Why would this be wired like this?

I often scratch my head when I look at the wiring in my car. Then I remember that I was the idiot who did it like that.

Re: MS1/EDIS to Speeduino

I'm making a better one from scratch with more adjustability. If you have any scratch spare could I have some? I make a lot of things from scratch and I'm running short. Keep the updates coming always interesting to read about this stuff. You need to get a better cat. Endless supply of scratch if y...

Re: MS1/EDIS to Speeduino

My next battle is my crank sensor mount. I've gone from a VR sensor to a hall-effect one. I bodged it into the mount I had previously made, but it was offset towards the rad by about 6mm and didn't really line up well. The engine runs, but I have a lot of dropouts to 0 rpm so I'm making a better one...

Re: MS1/EDIS to Speeduino

I've had it idling now. I had to fiddle a bit with the req fuel figure to get it ball park right. I had to stop it when the fan didn't kick in at the right time and it was heading towards overheating. I suspect I have air in the cooling system to bleed out as well. If you need to alter the req_fuel...

It's alive! It starts and runs for about 10 seconds before dying, but fundamentally it works :D

Check oil pick up bolts are tight and gasket intact or it will suck air.

Ian
Just what I was about to post as it happened to me. However, I didn't lose all pressure immediately, that would probably need the oil pick up to fall off into the sump.

Re: MS1/EDIS to Speeduino

Totally fine with a good thread hijack :)
I've previously used a relay coil to drive the tach. I'd highly recommend removing the switching bits of the relay as I didn't and the noise from it was quite audible over my engine!

Re: MS1/EDIS to Speeduino

And now I've managed to cook half of one of my two coilpacks. Waiting for a pair of new packs with inbuilt ignitors to arrive now. The only remaining parts of the original control system will be the coolant and air temp sensors :)

Re: MS1/EDIS to Speeduino

It turns out the ESP8266 for wifi was a bad idea as it caused spurious signals on the hall sensor line. Slowly working up towards getting the engine to fire.

Update. I posted the same request on the TR Regster Forum and now have a very detailed set of routes for a trip all over the Yorkshire Dales.
Care to share? :)
