Sorry - forgot to mention that... Yes. I'm putting the cross bolts in with just a nip of torque, then torquing the mains, then torquing the cross-bolts. Torqued to the numbers in the LR rebuild manual: http://www.landroverresource.com/ Perhaps I'll try putting 10Nm on the mains and side bolts, then ...

Engine tightens up under final torque of mains... :-(

Well, I'm really getting pi55ed off with this block I got from V8Developments. After doing a lot to get it to the point I was happy to build it, It locks my crank solid when the mains are torqued over 50Nm. :( The Crank came out of my last block, 120K miles, and has only had a light polish. Still st...

Glyco bearings equivalent to AE?

I just ordered some mains and BE shells to replace the crappy ones that V8Developments provided me with (had to be hammered into place on the centre-main, and too tight on two mains) - expecting the usual blue/white AE packaging, and instead recieved an orange box with GLYCO stamped on it... I searc...

Potential reason why so many V8's 'tick'

It's a long wordy post - but it is nonetheless interesting how OE liners an be removed by popping your block on top of your barbeque and sliding the liners out by hand... :D I officially hate LandRovers more now than I did before I did this test. http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t...

Just as an FYI - the engine block number from my 2003 discovery 4.6 which has loose liners (no water loss/or pressurising, just hammered grooves in the firing rings and a tapping when warm) is 08d13156A. It is a LCF000250 casting.

It is being replaced with a HRC2411 with TH liners from V8D. :-)

The slipped liner syndrome was very common in the last of the rover V8's from landrover (the 2003 and 2004 discovery) but not so common in the P38's I believe... I have a 'slipped liner' block in my garage, along with the headgaskets and the deep circular rings puched into them by the liners moving ...

What brand are these BE shells I got from V8D?

http://www.davecoxon.co.uk/V8_shells1.JPG http://www.davecoxon.co.uk/V8_shells2.JPG I thought I was getting OE mains and b/e shells - but got these? Seems I wasn't charged for OE shells, so i can't complain too much - but any ideas what brand they are? Also, the rings I got were made by Grant in the...

Are V8Developments open before new year?

Just dragging up an old one... I just spoke with Ray at V8D, to ask about getting some of these bolts for my rebuild, and he said just to re-use them. A thin film of oil on the thread, and under the head, an inital torque to 30lb ft, then 70lb ft. If they have been doing this for several years with ...

Ok then - You just need to get a wideband and isolate fuel or ignition.

Good Call - I've also heard good things about them - no personal experience though. Don't be tempted by a narrow-band sensor system though, it isn't worth spending even 10 quid on one. it's like comparing a 1940 video projector to a BlueRay. EDIT: I was curious about the Innovate kit - so just...

I seem to have lost some info here - was your D2 SAI or not? Did you put a NAS 4.6 ECU in there or is it still the 4.0 ECU?

It might be worth researching to see if the 4.0 and 4.6 injectors are the same as well.

I know you discounted the SAI - but I'm sure the SAI fuel pumps also different from non SAI? Is there something else that could be related to that which you aren't considering??? However, If I were you, I'd just go and purchase a wideband gauge unit. Weld in the O2 bung where the Y-pipes meet, and s...
