Well JP have given the price to make both the manifolds, its a bit more than I expected to be honest. £500 each plus the VaT. I had about £300 per side plus VaT in my head but I live in the sticks and normally do it all myself. Plus they need it for a week, so that means two 700 mile round trips for...

I have contacted JPexhausts about parts and maybe even doing the whole lot, depends on the price but its going to take me alot of faff, if my time plus faff plus parts equals more than them doing them plus faff getting the car to them then they get the job.

Should be interesting what they quote.

The thing is I am only 8 miles from Lands end In Cornwall and so have no idea who to ask or who is a good supplier for things. Hence my post here, as a general rule i have to make or figure most stuff out by myself. I only remembered this forum again recently. it was on my list of favorites years ag...

If you can wait until tuesday when I'm back at work, I have some on file that I had cut in 10mm and worked out pretty cheap... Thanks, I can wait until tuesday and am interested in a set made up or just the templates if you cannot do them in 12mm. Ok, So 8mm is too thin, I thought it might be but w...

Laser cut ~RoverV8 manifold flanges.

Does anyone know if I can buy a pair of manifold flanges for a Rover V8, I want to make my own manifolds and am going to use a load of prebent tube to make them and thought laser cut plate that i can just weld the pipe to would be simplest. I will be using 304 stainless so need the flanges to be sta...

Thanks for the pics, That does help a bit except i have less than no room down that side of the engine, i have no manifold at all at the moment and the starter fouls the steering. The air start idea is one I had hoped had been done before, it would save me doing the leg work and machining to make it...

Thanks for the replies, i googled up a company called "racemettle" who seem to do these gear reduction starters, has anyone used them ? i am aware there is a difference between normal rover V8 and SD1 type starters, normall its the position of the solenoid but i am wondering if the gear reduction on...

Lt77 mounts

I am putting an LT77 in my Manta (i took out a big jag auto box) I have it all fitted but need to find a couple of rubber mounts for the rear of the box, the ones i had have gone missing and the muppets at the local motorfactors have no idea what i am on about, it confuses them when you cannot give ...

It might be best to send me a PM, I could be persuaded to sell the lot as one lump.

I could keep it "just in case" and all that but I could also use the money to finish the last few small jobs on the re-build of the Manta.

It is the intermediate engine because it does have the dizzy hole and drive. The 10 bolt bottom end makes sense as does the 14 bolt heads explanation, i have never come across this combination before as i mosly run 3.5 engines from SD1's. Many thanks for the info folks now I just have to decide if i...

Odd Rover V8

I have just picked up a V8 Rover engine taken from a discovery, it has all the serpentine belt system on it except the alternator and has the 3.9 injection manifold still on it. The odd thing is that the heads look new and do not have the full compliment of head bolts in them, in fact some of the bo...

Its an option, I might use the sealer/loctite method. I have always stayed well away from sealer poo before and prefer to rely on the gasket itself to be able to manage the job, I recently added rubber rocker cover gaskets to the engine and was happy that they work with no sealer or other prep so wa...

To be honest half of the problem is that the sump flange is not 100% flat, it was a brand new landrover sump that I modified to fit the car, there is a little distortion present, not much, but enough to be a problem for the cork type gaskets. The other issue i have is that it would be nice to have a...
