Stone me Perry! £3,600 for a 4-71? Ours cost £50 many moons ago and Dave rebuilt it himself, made the manifold and the drive, everything. Still going stong after 25 years, hoping to turn it up a bit this year to 10% over instead of 5% over. Hopefully that should make the eights a regular and easier ...

Another one down the path

Perry,

Sorry to see the Rover give way to yet another heathen chevy

But you will need a blower to get the same thrill! Keep it blown because everything else sucks lol!

BW 35 and BW 65 have very different bell housings, the 35 has a ring of bolts to mount the bellhousing and the 65 just has 4 bolts. The 35 adapts easily to a lot of applications, we use one on a Ford C4 automatic, however they are getting hard to come by these days. Take care choosing the right one ...

Compared to those V8 Developments and Eales figures it seems there is a benefit to the TA heads. Imagine the work they put into the heads on those engines and what they cost compared to a virtual bolt-on that also improves other areas like the valley area and the improved rocker gear. Bearing in min...

If the seats are really rough I use a black and decker on the valve stem, slow speed and frequent lifts, be sympathetic and it works fine, I then finish by hand as soon as I have a full contact seat. They hold methanol when I am done. Sometimes put methanol in the inlet and exhaust ports and apply a...

For what it's worth, yes, the retainers with the step are sintered and I wouldn't use them if you want to rev the engine. The Crane Chrome Moly we have had a few breakages with these, they split straight across the middle. Touch Wood, since we went to the SD1 type we have had zero issues and the eng...

Hi Mike, Not checked in for a while, not meaning to scramble your thoughts any further but! Have you not thought that more power on the line, full throttle of course :) might really be the answer. A slingshot needs wheelspeed at the hit, if not it tends to let the pinion climb the ring gear and this...

Hi Mike, 60's seem a little weak for what you are running, more fuel down low may be needed, how are you running the timing? If you have the facility to retard down track I would look for a little more of the line and back off down track. That said a typical junior fueler in the states runs in the 1...

Torque to angle is also torque to yield they should not be reused, never seen the rods but machinists always say they need resizing if you change bolts at all, we always swapped in new standard bolts when we ran Rover rods and never resized and never a problem. We didn't go to ARP because we got a s...

Great meeting you at the weekend although I missed all your passes. Good to catch up with Mike again. as always a fraught start to the weekend we really need somewhere to fire the car before we load it. Anyway from a 120 main and a 65 high speed open all the time  we went to a 110 main and no...

Well done Mike, once you find the sweet spot on the tune up the eights will be there. Its all about the high speed to stop the popping and banging on these set ups.

Oops!

More carnage to report. First event of the year and first pass, sounded really strong, launched ok, little bit of spin hurt the 60' and the eighth ET, but 121 mph in 5.7 seconds to the eighth. Driver felt something nose over just before the traps and eased out about a third of the throttle travel, I...

What rpm and what lifters, also how old are the valve springs, they don't last long at higher rpm.
