Never had a problem in that area, this short block has a few years under its belt, and had never heard of a failure in this area. Live and learn! Failed on starting the engine. Started and surged a little then just stopped. Pushed it out of the lanes to have a quick look see and the Marshall handed ...

The new weakest link!

Hi guys, anyone know whats available for the rover to replace the stock bolts holding the flexplate to the crank. Sheared the lot today at the track. Luckily on start up for second qualifier, otherwise could have been a motor converted to a box of shrapnel. Previous run was a personal best 9.45 @ 14...

If its rich after storage check the cork seal on the vaccuum passage to the secondary diaphram, other possibility is the power valves, try a new one and see what happens. You can test by sucking against the diaphram if you have good lungs. It should be closed with vacuum on it, then open as manifold...

Perfect Ged, thanks for that. Reason for the question is to find a spring for the relief plate on the blower manifold. After a dropped valve the existing springs had collapsed to the point of being almost solid. Last time out it poured raw fuel from the exhaust at the top of each gear so I suspect t...

Valve spring rates

Does anyone know the rated pressures, at installed height and at full lift for the early Rover dual spring and for the SD1 single spring as standard? Thanks

hi Ralph could you cut head gaskets from 1mm soft copper sheet? We have had problems getting them done here in the NW and the local laser cutters say they can't do copper because its too conductive. Standard shim gasket for 3.5 is the pattern. If you could quote for batches of 10 or 20 that would be...

For future reference, although they seem in short supply now! Volvo B20, ie early 144 2 litre engine, pistons work well and although cast are massively stronger than Rover type. Chevy type rods with an offset bushing give correct compression height, these are flat top and with a mild cam don't need ...

All depends on the usage, mainly a realistic expected rev range. Generally as high a lift as possible with reasonable duration and at least 112 degrees lobe separation. We have had good results racing with the 248 hydraulic with Rhodes lifters, but, lots of people find this set up too noisy for the ...
