Re: Fuel Air Mixture Wide Band System
Thanks for those comments - from that I take it the recommendations are 1. Just get another single Innovate system to match what I have, 2. Buy a new twin Innovate system, 3. Tech Edge wide band solutions - we have agents here in Aust 4. Stack wideband, (single or double?) I will investigate these o...

Fuel Air Mixture Wide Band System
When I built my 4.6 with the intention of putting a stand alone fuel injection system, it was recommended to me that I include a wide band O2 sensor system to display the fuel air mixture ratio and to provide input to the ECU. I bought a single Innovate system but have since decided I would be bette...

Yes the Thor produces a little less HP but a bit more torques.

Re: E10 and Rover V8
When E10 was introduced in Australia in 2005 the Government claimed that all vehicles made after 1987 were ok to run on the new fuel subject to octane requirements - our E10 is 94 RON. Land rover claimed that any use of ethanol in fuel in their vehicles breaks their warranty and any failure caused b...

Re: UK New rules for towing a trailer or caravan with a car from autumn 2021
Looking from the outside of the UK this seems very strange - it seems odd to link what you can tow to when you received your licence rather than vehicle capabilities and what is being towed. Certainly accept circumstances where special licences are required for particular configurations but to link ...

Normally indicates a slipped liner with the associated issues this can bring - cracks etc.

You could try this from Ashcroft Transmissions.

Re: 4.6 con rods. Should they be blue at the wrist pin end?
Ok - I stand corrected - but it means there is something odd with the 4.0 converted to a 4.6 I have as it definitely has the gudgeon locked to the pistons - I guess the issue will show up sooner or later. So how is the correct position of the conrod little end on the gudgeon determined - just mid way?

Re: 4.6 con rods. Should they be blue at the wrist pin end?
So you believe the conrod is locked to the gudgeon and with the movement of the piston up and down the gudgeon turns inside the piston with no bearing material.
That is not how my engines are set up an how engine rebuild manual explains it.

Re: RV8 4.6 Rod Bolts. Stretch or not?
The 4.6 uses stretch bolts that should only be used once - however some people use them more that once but is not good practice.
To get away from stretch bolts I switched to ARB studs which work well.

Re: 4.6 con rods. Should they be blue at the wrist pin end?
Sorry not following this thread - on a 4.0/4.6 the conrod does not grab the gudgeon pin as moves freely on the gudgeon - the bearing is in the little end and the little end moves around the gudgeon pin. The gudgeon pin is fixed into the piston, is an interference fit and does not move - hence the ri...

Re: Gudgeon pin/little end offset and power.
Why change something that clearly works. Hundreds of thousands of vehicles running as built and no issues with the design offset. Main issue is when rebuilding an engine and you forgot the way the pistons etc go and you have to work it out.
Is one of those things - why bother.

Re: Adding an expansion tank to a RV8
Once installed this will become your fill point with a pressure cap so dont forget you will need to remove the radiator cap on your current cooling system and replace it with a cap that just seals the system.

Re: What's going on here?
Yes but if you have a 3.5 and inlets and thermostat you do not have the cows udder. The OPs 4.6 termostat housing is not the udder type and is near the same as the system I have on my 4.6, and not a 4.6 inlet system as he has an aftermarket system and carb - hence my comments on the bypass pipe whic...
