The back of the gearbox is already up to the rear axle, and already had to chop main crossmember so handbrake drum fits! Basically engine, box and blower are in region of 10ft long..!

That has always been my plan, problem is I have already extended the chassis by 15", and to fit the blower in (even sitting over the top of the front bumper) I need to extend it by 7" more..! I think it will end up looking ridiculous! I think I may add a big lorry turbo on the side instead, i'll get...

I have so far got to choose the, er, well not sure! The 3 emergency passports we had to get were quite expensive too, after accidentally setting fire to them... Having a slight dilemma about whether to use the blower, I'm going to have to extend the chassis by another 6-8" if I want to, and it could...

There is a little progress actually, will post pics later, mainly discovering that the engine and trans is so long that I have about 60mm for a rear prop...!!! Oh the joys!

I was talking to a very experienced engine builder about this the other day regarding my old Nash engine. He rebuilds historic Aston engines and many others, and said that too much oil pressure can actually remove the coating on the bearings, although this may not be that case with more modern shell...

That was a very good race, could have just been slightly better for a few screaming V10's for the audio!

Bones is back! I like to go against the grain Rich, just hoping I can get the aesthetics to work on this as I can't picture the front end working perfectly in my head! I was considering using a RV8 as a donkey engine

These Duratec engines are seen to make over 200bhp on stock internals reliably, with a high CR. Am I right to assume that with half the RPM, half the CR, and (200bhp/4 cylinders = 50bhp per cylinder/piston vs 200bhp/8 cylinders) my estimate of 25bhp per cylinder/piston, they should be completely rel...

To be honest I'm sick of hearing people moan about 'real racing'. F1 is unique. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I'm a big fan of it and like I have said before, I appreciate the technical challenges that go into it in addition to the racing, tactics, race management. I have never been a fan o...

Or just add a few pops and bangs- not hard to do with a turbo! Although the gearchanges are so quick I don't suppose anti-lag would ever kick in!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-Focus-Mondeo-C-Max-18i-engine-piston-rings-kit-3220-/141215201121 These modern duratec pistons look fantastic, and look like they have Teflon coated skirts too, and can get them for only £28 each! Think my mind is made up, should be fine with just a couple of pounds bo...

I think it is actually just pushed on now, and the thread is there for an old fashioned puller, will try pulling it off later! Now stripped the engine, cam actually doesn't look too bad, so may be able to use it. Also measured the approximate stroke at 114mm, which makes the CR (according to an onli...

I had decided to go with the thinner stuff, but may do a couple of trial welds before ordering as butt welding thin ally can be a pain! I've found a company who will supply me with 3mm mandrel bends which would definitely be the easiest option as 3mm is easy to weld, but it would be heavy! Oh- how c...

Measured the bore at 82.7mm today, making it 3 1/4". Also I calculated the entire area above the piston at TDC at 136cc including 1mm of head gasket. Of course this isn't much help right now as I haven't measured the stroke properly! Either way it's not going to be easy getting the CR up, those Alfa...
