Re: LT77 to R380 swap

I'm assuming you're aware the 5th speed housing is larger and moves the gearstick pickup and mountings further back?

Re: dip stick length

Shouldn't be a problem, you could change twice as often as you'll only be using half as much :-)

May be worth takng the sump off and checking where the levels on the stick are and how much oil needed to reach that level in the sump.

Re: Sanity check needed

The rotrex charger is a bolt on kit and can be done in a day quite easily, as its made for the TVR owner, We are getting ready for our next stage which is a procharger D1SC to see how much further we can push this rv8 engine    You've got me interested now! Been looking at the SC sit...

Re: dip stick length

Well I don't know about the recommended quantity but 3L in the sump does sound a bit marginal to me, I know you will have some ,ore oil in the rest 9f the system but my thoughts are that this would be constant capacity. You do hear stories of fair quantities oil remaining in the head/rocker area, pr...

Re: Sanity check needed

You could always say it's a TVR V8, that's got to be worth at least another 50bhp  Welll that's another issue! I'm struggling to work out if it's a Trevor or a Morgan engine as it has both numbers stamped on the block. Maybe it's neither. Personally, I _really_ like Coops idea. LS in a Cobra i...

Re: Sanity check needed

Charger sits no higher than the alternator mate Yeah, wasn't really clear about that, don't really mean the height under bonnet, more the overall amount of space around the engine, although I know of at least one guy with the same car who has a supercharger (looks similar to yours) on an LS engine....

Re: Sanity check needed

i nearly went that route but went this route instead, Supercharger :D 19466285_1722385737776194_8102319970200080818_o.jpg Hi Coops, that's a really nice installation you have there, as I've been trawling throught the forum over the past week or so I've seen that a number of times, I also seem to re...

Re: Sanity check needed

Thanks for the comments guys. I must admit the "sanity" I was looking to check was whether this swap is possible (and if it's been done then plagiarise where possible) rather than whether I should do it - That's probably never going to be sane! It is going to be a slow burner in any case, next winte...

Sanity check needed

While I've been laid up with a nasty cold over the holiday period I've been doing a lot of reading up on previous posts looking for any ideas to squeeze a little more power/grunt from the 3.9 motor in my (fairly light) Cobra rep'. One favoured way of getting more power seems to be to remove the moto...

Re: dip stick length

Hi Paul So if my math's is correct (no guarantee of that :-)) the wing will add only 336cc and assuming the max line is 50mm below block/sump face that gives 18*18*8.5 = 2,754cc + 336cc = 3090cc Which does seem a little limited (my bike takes about that much!) Seems like you could do with a little m...

Re:

I’ve just managed to measure the sump, it’s 25 to 30mm deep at the front with the main sump being 7” square with an 1” wing on the side. Hi Paul, I think this may be your issue, your sump volume is a little on the small side. I can't make an estimation of the volume of the wing or wings as I don't ...

Do,you know what your sump is from and has it been modified? Can't imagine how much oil I'd have to add to raise it 50mm or more.

Managed to get out and do some measuring. My setup uses a short tube (53mm from deck face), around 150mm shorter than yours, and the stick is 388mm measured from tip to the underside of the cup face, the face which will locate on the top of the tube. So my stick protrudes 335 below the deck face, yo...

I'm looking into renewing my dipstick and tube at the moment, seems like you can get long or short tubes, obviously the stick length will be different for each one. Seems like you may have a short tube & long stick. From what I can see it looks like there is about a couple of inches. I'll have the s...

Just been looking at the area adjacent to the dipstick. It has 47AnnnnnA (where n is a numeric character) which would indicate Morgan +8, but also has 47A40PnnnG above this in smaller text which would indicate TVR Chimaera. Perhaps an attempt to make the engine look more valuable? Any ideasuggestion...
