Re: 3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8
Is a different camshaft not also required with the gear to drive the distributor? I may be wrong, but what I think you are looking for is an Interim Cover which was fitted to engines that had the crank driven oil pumps but retained the distributor. I'm not sure if it was a serpentine or V belt cove...

Re: 3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8
The crank spacer is required, I got mine from rimmerbros https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LR012879SPACER It says for pre 94, but the serpentine 3.9 needs it as well as it was designed for the short snout crank but the 4.6 is long snout. I used a 4.2 camshaft as was common in the US for 4.6 conversions...

Re: cooling connections for my new setup
I don't think blanking off the connections at the rear of the pump, E &D should cause any problems, on some front covers they were not drilled.

Re: cooling connections for my new setup
I guess it is an early rover front cover and water pump with the distributor driven oil pump. I believe the two connections at the rear of the pump are just another inlet to the pump, usually connected to the bypass and heater returns. The header tank is usually plumbed into the bottom hose on later...

Re: ZF4HP24 drive plate bolts
Not sure of the difference but the part number I found was FS110251M, when I Google there were big variations on price from 1.19 to over 10GBP. I couldn't find the grade of them, lots of LR bolts are 10.9 not 8.8. I would probably go with 8.8 though at a pinch.

1985 v8. I found a pipe today in my spares with two nuts on it, looks like 1/2 UNF which is what I have found the AC fuel bowls used by Ford used.

Re: P38 4.6 Engine upgrade
In my opinion changing to the Thor intake is going to be the easiest and cheapest way to increase your torque. If you really have to increase the stroke you need to research rods and pistons that would be suitable and either purchase a custom crank or have yours offset ground.

Fuel filter thread
I ordered a new fuel pipe for my 110 landrover, this one fits between the filter and the tee from the two fuel tanks. The filter is the small ACDelco cartridge filter but the pipe was supplied with a tube nut and insert that doesn't fit the filter. I have the olives to fit the pipe but don't have th...

Re: Crankcase Ventilation
I drilled the back of my 4.6 block the same as the 3.5 block so it will vent the same. Having trouble getting the correct hoses for the SUs on mine and one of the hoses I did find new is actually hard, so going to have to find some alternative hoses. I was trying to make it look all original.

Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Any idea what it's for. I've been looking at the Land Rover electrical manual which gives component locations, but there are a lot of diodes! Chris. Hi - many thanks - it's a safety mechanism to ensure fuel is only delivered when the engine is running. Pauls reply indicates that it's under seat is ...

Yes, if it's like any of the RHD rangerovers I have had.

Not 100% sure if it is but could it be under the drivers seat with the EFI relays?

Re: SD1 Sump Bolts - torque
Aren't the bolts 1/4in except the two back ones which are 5/16, hence the different torque, the later landrover engines have 23nm listed for all sump bolts

Re: 4.2 cam specs
Did read somewhere that all the factory rover cams had the same lift, I haven't checked it out for myself though so can't confirm if it is true. At the time I bought the first 4.2 cam I was going to build a 4.2 engine and it was available and at a good price. When I decided to go to a 4.6 I found th...
