Re: solid lifters clearance

I was thinking in mm. 0.25 mm aka 10 thou ""

25 thou " is a huge 0.635 mm.

Confused now :(

Re: solid lifters clearance

Problem is, that I don't know what cam was used :-( Just know, and I hope it is true, that a Holbay cam was used. When I refer what cams where possible, I found: Holbay 111R 39/73/73/39 292° .429" Hyd. Fast Road The Tornado Holbay 125LHC 40/84/89/45 304/314° .520"/.541" Hyd. Competition Designed for...

solid lifters clearance

Hi there,

running solid lifters (Chevy) and adj. steel rockerarms (Volvo) on the RV8 (not built by myself) and after approx. 3000 miles it sounds a bit noisier now. Can anybody tell me how much clearance for new adjustment? 25 thou? #

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Devonman, you got it! After mounting the second time a brand new dizzy, the problem is solved :) The 360 miles trip to SPA proofed that. The other "old" dizzy, that was laying on the shelf for a few years had inside a weak seal that allowed the oil to go up the spindle to the dizzy body and drops ou...

Could it be that the seal below the advance weights is iffy. Don't know Is there any side play of the shaft? Y es, but there is always a little play, isn't it? Is the small hole half way down the dizzy body clear? Yes ist is There are oil grooves in the shaft. Are they clear? Don't know, brand new o...

Okay gents, After try&error I think the problem with the dizzy oil leak is solved. Thought that the little but permanent oil puddle under the dizzy stump came from the the bolt hole from the clamp or the O-ring because of too much pressure. Disconnected my additional oil feed pipe for the dizzy, sti...

Thanks for all the input.

I have 4 breathers on the valve covers. The dizzy stud is sealed with Loctite.

BTW the valle clamps and seals are really dry. It seems that there is a small line of oil but that is just from cleaning the mess.

Thanks guys. I have really thought of mounting this: http://www.ebay.de/itm/401297688839?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Will give it a new try with little oversized O-ring. But there will be still some pressure that will out I think :-( I ran a Chevy a few ago just with t...

Oil leak dizzy stump

The engine was rebuild a few years ago and was waiting for 5 years to be installed. In 2016 it was mounted and got a few test runs, all in all 50 miles. It runs fine, 3.5 with quad Dellortos, just back from the rolling road this week. What really disturbs me are the leaks. One leak is the back side ...
