I agree with the ramps tricks, but make sure it is the front of the car you put on them. One trick for bleeding is to cut the bottom out of a large Coke bottle, then gaffer tape the bottle upside down into your the rad neck, like a large funnel, and fill the Coke bottle with coolant, whilst ru...

Hi People lock the rears off and leave the peddle active so you can allow the car to creep forward in the burn out box if there is too much water to allow the tyres to heat as quickly as you want. Also gives you an opportunity to do a big show-off burn out right up to the staging area. Best regards...

Thats what I was going to do in the near future, not ideal in a manual as you have to be quick on the pedals but cant see it being a problem with an auto box! I've heard that you can lock ON the front brakes, with the ball valve in the front brake line, push hard on brake, close valve, release brak...

Thanks guys. :D I'll keep you updated with any projects or interesting stuff I come across. Here's a website that is primarily about the V8 scene in the area we're moving to. I used to race the car called Blown Crazy, a '67 Camaro with a 500hp 327 motor. It wasn't mine, but I used to rent it off the...

Paul, Good luck to you and your family in your new(ish) life. Reading your post made me realise how I would feel selling my baby so my heart (in a gruff manly way) goes out to you. On a lighter note make us really sick by telling us what the house prices, tax and fuel costs are out there? Cheers, I...

Well that is it, it's all over now.

A couple of years ago I started work on my dream car, the one car I always wanted since I was a young 'un: a Deuce Coupe hot rod. As per American Grafitti. It is featured in Garage Scene if anybody wants to see more. I've been doing a fair bit of work on it recently, got the brakes all but plumbed i...

20k is a long way short of 60k. You also need a largish charger pulley so you get a decent amount of belt wrap or the belt will slip. If it was as easy as using different pulleys I am pretty sure The manufacturers would have went that route instead of developing expensive gearboxes. I'd guess they ...

Re: Vacum advance

Does the webber 500 carb have the facility for vacum advance? And when using the edlbrock manifold does the thrmostat housing sit in the same positionas standard? steve In answer to your first question yes it does. In fact it has two ports, one is timed so that there is only vacuum once the throttl...

I'd have a go, but due to the fact they go to about 60,000rpm I'm not going to even try! Far too much to go wrong at that speed IMO. If I had a CNC mill etc and could make it to the thou it might be a different story... Your alternator probably goes to 20,000 rpm when you hit peak engine revs. Just...

I used a Davies Craig pump in my Morris hot rod. I did 5000+ miles on it without a problem. I see the Boss Hoss V8 motorcycle uses a Jabsco remote water pump on their SBC and BBC models. This one is rated at 22gpm, but I guess they do bigger ones if you need it. http://www.jabscoshop.com/images/5083...

Is there anywhere in the UK that makes blower drive pulleys, the 8mm toothed variety, or similar? Or any other blower type stuff. Or is it down to the usual jobbie of importing from the good old USA? I have a 6/71 I bought for my FE motor, and I'd like to install it myself, rather than simply order...

It bugs me when other people get their 'glass work looking so neat. Mine always seems to look like it was applied from a distance, by a blind monkey. :( Any tips how to get 'glass to fit around the outside of tight corners without bulging up? I try to keep to bigger radii, but sometimes it is just u...

Paul, Thats a 6V-71, doesn't move as much air as a real one. Those angled mounting bolts are a bit of a pain too. The V series engines had a turbo as well as a blower. V6 engine layout, The traditional 6-71 was on a straight 6 engine. Alan Yes, I know all that, but this was available, and I had som...
