Engine number on 3.9 EFI

Hello all. I know engine numbers come up here fairly often but I couldn’t find an answer to my question. So my Rover V8 is a 3.9 litre from a police Discovery so I have been told. It is now safely installed in my FX4 Taxi but the number is 35DTIS0268. It’s a manual stamping rather than the printed t...

Re: Rover V8 Engine Numbers Updated:

Hello all. So my Rover V8 is a 3.9 litre from a police Discovery so I have been told. It is now safely installed in my FX4 Taxi but the number is 35DTIS0268. It’s a manual stamping rather than the printed type so I’m wondering if this stamp is from an engine reconditioning workshop. I’m wondering wh...

V8 London Taxi

Yeah so finally finished this project. It is a 3.9l with a pair of SU carbs. I’m really happy with how it went in and how factory it looks. I’ve also put in a ZF 4hp22 gearbox, a 3.54:1 4HA rear axle and a custom stainless exhaust. Everything else was untouched so the cab looks just like a regular c...

Many thanks everyone. The workshop finally managed to find one in their parts bin Friday but thanks for the replies.

Alternator pulley sizes

Hello all, For my London taxi V8 project, we are going to drive the alternator from the crankshaft pulley. It’s a Lucas a127 alternator I believe and it has a 10mm V belt pulley, about 65mm in diameter with a 15mm bore. As the crankshaft and water pump pulleys take 13mm belts, I thought it would be ...

Re: Hello all

Here’s where we are at the moment. The EFI has been taken off and replaced with SU carburettors. The heel boxes have been pocketed slightly to allow access to the spark plugs and the bonnet stay moved slightly for the same reason. The ancillaries have been put on including the original Nissan PAS pu...

Re: I'm new - so hiya

I’ve chosen the zf4hp22 for my London Taxi conversion. I’ll let you know how that goes when it’s completed :)

Re: Fuel arrangements for SU carbs

Many thanks. So I think I’ll just use a single 8mm pipe and route it away from the exhaust and see how it goes. The baby 1.5 to 4 psi facet pump may be suitable in this case. I’ll put up some pics when it’s finished...

Fuel arrangements for SU carbs

Hello all, Apologies if this has been done before but after scouring the internet for some time, I could not find a satisfactory answer. I have a London Taxi as a project car. I’m putting in a 3.9 v8 with SU HIF44 carbs. The taxi was fitted with fuel supply and return lines. Basically, what I want t...

Hello all

Hello. I have a London Taxi that I’m putting a 3.9 V8 in. It was an EFI but will put SUs on. All the mountings are done and it’s nearly ready to go in for the last time. I joined so I can pick your collective brains about various things as I go. Many thanks,
G
