Re: Inlet manifold

Unbolt the heater outlet pipe and see if the pipe is connected to it - Most don't have a tube that goes all the way to the front just a stub on the flange - maybe that one has an extended inner pipe to pick up the water where it is the hottest at the front of the engine. being perforated will make n...

Re: 4,6 Ltr with quad Weber power output

As far as cross-over manifolds go that's probably the best - but it is not the best of inlet manifolds for an RV8 as the numbers come with the downdrafts. It should be good for torque though. Then again, if being used with stock valve sizes and going the 5000 rpm route there will be nothing to choos...

Re: 4,6 Ltr with quad Weber power output

The inlet manifold I got in the workshop for DCOE is an alloy cross over, so no bents at all and nice long runner . (good for lower RPM). The swan neck manifolds, I don't like at all. Would never try them. Swan neck would be the only one I would use if I had to use a crossover - The centre ports in...

Re: 4,6 Ltr with quad Weber power output

IDF manifold is no restriction on a RV8 - it's only a 45 bend on an RV8 not a 90 degree bend as on a Pinto - DCOE Manifold is a 135 bend with the swan neck types. Correctly ported the IDF manifolds are about the best you can get for the RV8.

Re: 4,6 Ltr with quad Weber power output

I would say 230 as before - the heads will be the issue and all the capacity will do is lower the RPM that this figure is reached at and increase the torque - 250-300 is pie in sky on stock valves and "Minor" head work. 250-260 BHP will require Mid size valves at least - 270-280 will need some serio...

Re: 4.6 heads on a 3.5 9.75:1 SD?

Later 10 bolt heads would increase the compression - probably what you meant to write - composites reduce it back to stock. There can be small gains as the castings are better but not significant.

Re: 3.5 9.75:1 Puffing blue smoke

100C may not be excessive for a modern engine but its way outside the comfort zone for a Rover engine.

Re: Rover V8 Boxer carb installation blog

You may have more engine capacity but with stock heads you have the same air flow. The increase in capacity will just mean things are all over by 4800RPM rather than 5300RPM - (figures are just arbitrary for example). Calculation for establishing the lower RPM maximum horsepower will occur at for th...

Is this all from a fixed datum of a disconnected and blocked off Vac advance - and the same idle speed.

Re: RV8 Suddenly Doing 17-18 AFR at 50 kmh

Are you getting a decent spark from the dizzy - is the high reading just that the O2 is just not getting used - i.e no/poor combustion - you will need a good spark and advance at cruise to light a lean mixture - is the spark weak or has the advance module failed. May also be worth having a look see ...

Re: Piston & Conrod weight of a 4.6

If its being balanced then you need to weigh your own pistons and rods - all matched to lightest and provide that to the balancer - info from elsewhere is pointless.

Re: Rover V8 Starter Motor Wiring

There are two coil windings in a solenoid - the first is the main pull in coil and this gets its earth path from the + connection to the starter motor - yep thats right. The second hold in solenoid gets it -ve from the casing of the solenoid and a normal earth path as it needs this when the solenoid...
