Why are you using 10w60? are you in a hot part of the world? standard oil for UK is 10w40 for the crank oil pump V8. To my ear it sounds more tapping noise than valve train rattling? - like some one hitting your engine with a hammer? Is your cooling system ok? not using coolant? 10w60 was recommend...

I've read online in some sources that the 4.6 Rover V8 has forged rods and maybe crank?

Are there any fundimental differences between the 3.5 - 3.9 and 4.6?

I use a Multigrade 15w40 Mobil 1000 in my 4.6..

No oil pressure issues and it sounds and runs really sweet..
This is the issue that plagues an engine that has been around forever, everyone seems to have their own opinion on what will work!

She has the ZF4HP24 so its a pretty stout transmission, which'll hopefully take some power

I want this P38 to tow, so i'm assuming I should steer towards torque rather than Hp
