Have you tried Real Steel. I got the multi layer one from them, it was several years ago.

I've always locked two nuts together on the exposed thread and just unscrewed the stud. Guess it depends if it's loctited in.

A friend of mine had a tapping noise like a failed lifter in his 383. Turned out a roller had collapsed on a rocker. Cam was fine, new set of rockers from the States sorted a week later.

I changed the engine in my Pilgrim Sumo, from a Rover 3.5 to a 4.6 earlier this year. All I did was fill out the changes on the V5, and get a written report from a garage saying the installation safe.
My Tax and emissions don't come into question as it's a pre SVA kit car.

My box leaked, where the gear selector goes into the 5th gear housing. Took ages to work out where it was coming from.

I put the sump and pick up pipe from my old 3.5 SD1 on to a 4.6 . I didn't have to "massage" it, just bolted straight on.

I had my water system piped with the hose from the thermostat bypass connected to the back of the water pump as in your pics. When driving at motorway speeds I found it was pumping cooled water directly onto the back of the stat making it close. The temp gauge was reading 120 but the fans wouldn't c...

Spigot Bush

Hi All I'm building up a 4.6 to swap with the 3.5 in my kit car. I've ordered a new spigot bush from Rimmers, but there was some confusion as to which bush I needed. So does anyone know the ID of a bush used with a 2wd LT77, Just want to make sure the one they've sent is the right one before fitting...

Had an emissions problem at SVA on a V6. The examiner suggested it was the rings stuck in their grooves and putting diesel down the plug holes and leaving overnight. Changed the oil and all was well.
Worth a try.

Hi
I have had some experience of cooling fans on air compressors, and have had problems with the size of the gap between the fan and shroud. Looking at your pic I don't think the gap is small enough, so the fan will be drawing air through the gap instead of air through the rad.

Camshaft Numbers

Hi All

Just wondered if anyone can identify a camshaft that has HIY2 marked on it. I've had a quick look on the net but can't find any reference to it.

Dave in Plymouth has an LT77 behind his 4.6 in his SR and hasn't had any problems. Had a measure up yesterday as was thinking about changing the cam, looks like it would be easiest to take the engine out to do. Will keep an eye out for bigger engine. Busy driving it at the minute. Thanks for the rep...

Looks like the easiest way to change it will be an engine out job. That can wait til the winter.

Thanks again Stu
