Help and advise wanted with port matching heads to inlet manifold

I would like some advice on port matching my heads to inlet manifolds , I assume you need to find the gasket you plan on using and do the port matching to that ,I was just going to go to the same internal size as the gasket I was going to use ?? I don’t suppose all gaskets are the same size ??so I w...

Thanks for taking the time to answer me

Header tank into bottom hose

Hi when I read other posts on here most people say the best thing is to put the bigger connection at bottom of the header tank and tee it into the bottom hose why is this the best idea ? Surely any hot coolant that will be in the header tanks will go straight back into the engine,if it went back int...

Re: Oil pump flow rate

Will the proposed turbos be water cooled ? If so there will be a certain amount of heat exchanged between oil and coolant. I Use water cooled turbos in my car which has a very compact under bonnet space and keeping coolant temp down is the main battle where as the oil temp is acceptable using a sma...

Re: Oil pump flow rate

If you assume the crank driven oil pump is similar to the LS pump then 4gpm = approx 15lpm at 1000rpm - at 5500rpm this is 82lpm (it won't be a straight line but this is all we have and who knows if some if this bleeds of down the bypass?) Either way I think your looking at the biggest one in my op...

Oil pump flow rate

Hi all I’m thinking of using a water to oil, oil cooler due to Not having anywhere to mount a conventional cooler , the literature with the water to oil coolers want to know the flow rate in litres per minute,so I can work out what model to buy , so my question is what is the oil pump flow rate in L...

Re: Cooling system proposed design

If the top hose on your radiator goes to a higher level...then a bleed on the top of the rad is pointless, as air wont get trapped there anyway, it'll rise via the top hose wherever there may be a trap there. Hi steve, sorry for the slow reply , my rad top hose is about 2" lower than the thermostat...

Re: Cooling system proposed design

Presumably that expansion tank will be the highest part of the system? Looks OK to me. Chris. Yes header tank will be heighest part of the system, also is it worth me adding the small vent just above the radiator top hoze ? The one I've called "D" ????my thoughts were it will help get the air out a...
