RV8 - Crane Anti pump up lifters

Anybody using the above lifters in their RV8?

I'm considering these as an option and was wondering if they can be used with standard pushrods? and if anyone has had any issues with them.

Also, if you know of a good alternative?

Cheers

Help identifying Camshaft

Recently purchased a 4.0ltr RV8 unused engine. The camshaft in it is not standard for the engine as it has the dizzy drive nose and not machined for retaining plate. The cam is brand new but I cant identify what it is. I'd to find out to determine if I can use it or sell it - can't do either if I do...

Re: Rover V8 engine expert required North of Scotland.

I don't know the name of the outfit, but there is a specialist engineers in Inverness area. They are well known for there off-road racers and the RV8s they put in them. I found them via Goggle search a while ago (i'm in the central belt).

Re: Kiwi dreamer... What would you do?

How much do you want to spend?

That aside:-
- use the pistons from a 4ltr eng for higher CR
- uprated cam but make sure its suitable for a heavy 4x4 not a 2wd sports car
- Stage 3 head work or if you have the spare readies a set or Merlin or Wildcat heads
- Exhaust system tuned for the new power

Re: Front crank oil seal.

BTW if the wear groove is not too server Rimmers supply a slightly oversized crank oil seal. I don't know the listing as I called them and mentioned the issue and they sent me the oversized one. 4 track-days and 2000 road miles no leaks.

Re: 3.9 later intermin Serp Engine project

The engine is going in a track-day car, whilst it's not going to be a screamer or mega power, it will get driven hard in its upper rev bracket so thought it a good idea to get the cross bolting done.

I'm running just and alternator and water pump on a serp setup and I repositioned the standard tensioner.

I posted some pictures in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=15309&p=117028#p117028

Done over 8k miles on this setup with no issues.
Thanks very useful.

3.9 later intermin Serp Engine project

Continuing on from my previous post....I've gone and got a late 3.9 interim longblock i.e. serp front end and block casting with provision for cross bolting (but not actually cross bolted). Allegedly the engine has been 'rebuilt' but until it arrives I wont know to what extent. In the meantime I wan...

Re: 4.6 RV8 rough power and trq estimate

I used to have a healthy 3,5 litre with ported heads, uprated cam or two and SU´s. At its peak it made 190 hp. I then ditched the SU carbs and manifold and went to Edelbrock Performer and Holley 390. That increased the power to 221 hp. The next step was to replace the short motor with 4,6 stuff. Re...

Re: 4.6 RV8 rough power and trq estimate

Well a standard 4.6 produces 222 hp (166 kW; 225 PS) at 4,750 rpm and 300 lb⋅ft (407 N⋅m) at 2,600 rpm so thats where you need to start. That's what I thought. So with a cam and some head work, properly set-up Edelbrock 1404 and Performer manifold, and well set-up / timed Dizzy +250hp is not a big ...

Re: 4.6 RV8 rough power and trq estimate

200 hp I would think. Reason 3.9 fully worked by John Eales with a JE 102 cam which is fairly radical, fully balanced, stage 3 heads yada yada That gives 256 hp at 6600 rpm You have less heads work, less cam and bigger capacity so will not rev as easily which is where my power comes in. Sorry if th...

4.6 RV8 rough power and trq estimate

I am at a cross roads with my current 3.5 engine and am considering other options - budget limited unfortunately. I am thinking of starting over with a standard reconditioned 4.6 long block that might be available to me fairly cheap. I believe it is 9:35 CR. So, my plan would be to use this with:- -...

Re: Street tires

I use Kumho KU39s on my trackday car. Decent grip in dry, very good in the wet (as I found out on a soaked Knockhill trackday last week) and £300ish a set fitted on 18" rims - 225s front & 255s on the rear. Think they are a bit harder compound than the likes of the Toyo's but have stood up well to t...
