JP, Sorry to thread hijack, but I have to ask how much bolt on HP you got from MSD. Reason I ask is that all the literature I have seen (from MSD and from hot rod mags) compares a knackered old distributor with points to a shiny new MSD setup. Never have a seen an HEI setup compared (i.e. transistor...

well that is what ignition retard controls should do. It's about 5 lines of code for single stage NOS.

I'd be suprised if VEMS didn't have some sort of switchable tables. MS does have very good nitrous support; something to do with one of the main code developers being very into drag racing...

ethylene glycol is also good. early RX7s used to inject that for cold starting and was a well known cure for sticking seals.

Never really been a perceived need for it for it. People who are tuning up V8s either remap the ECU or swap it out for an emerald, megasquirt etc.

Throttle response on a 2+ ton truck is never going to be electric anyway!

there is a very good chance that the throttle response was not a function of the MAF but of the way the engine was mapped. Generally the OEM calibration on the ECU is done to minimise the chance of idiots spinning into the scenery on the first wet roundabout so maximise linear operating range. The M...

Being really pedantic Engineer should have a capital 'E', at least for proper ones with letters etc.

Was introduced to this a few weeks back white and nerdy About half way through you might spot the Shroedinger equation. Some might spot the mistake...

If you build the MS to drive EDIS, it will drive any EDIS. The options are confusing, but that is the nature of the beast. Usual options for a v8 are tach out and map switch if you run LPG. Some people like to run IAC to help with low RPM running and warm up. Others stick with the bimetallic setup o...

Ian: You have a few confusions over what is more 'efficient' in terms of injection. It is a tricky thing to work out. For indirect injection engines (i.e. everything except the latest petrol engines), you get best fuel efficiency when you inject against a closed valve, as the heat evaporates the fue...

If you are running EDIS the basic kit has all you need in it. EDIS 8 are around £50. coil packs you can use anything, but fraud units are good and work. The 2.5bar map sensor is fine. hardest part of this is fitting the trigger wheel, but that is more because of the variance in front pulleys on the ...

You don't need MS2 for a V8, although it does have some nice features. In terms of changes it really depends. Obvious is trigger wheel, crank sensor, coil packs and EDIS. You can leave all the hotwire gubbins in, or take it out and neaten up the underbonnet. Where you mount IAT and MAP sensor is up ...

Bling plug leads are just that. Good std grade need not cost the earth and will be made with the right ends. http://www.fastlaneauto.co.uk/ do custom sets for not much money (60-70 for a set for a v8). I have a crimp that fits MSD ends, but havent found a source of the connectors. If you go with for...

Nope. Other way round. Well tuned EFI will make more power and handle wilder cams, higher compression etc etc.
