Thanks. If drilled for cross bolting does it force the need for a line bore?

So studs and not over torquing the nuts could be the way forward for a stock ish power build?

It's being built for an auto instalation and currently has the standard lucas fuel only engine management with a dizzy.

Fretting on main caps. Scrap or cross bolt?

Hi. I'm going through the process of cleaning and inspecting an interim 95 3.9 serpentine engine. I can see signs of fretting and one of the caps drops right in with no force, but doesn't rattle or slide once in. Engine is from a discovery. Plan for this lump is a torquey cam (still destined for a 4...

Survey of MS, especially interested in MS3 and non EDIS

Firstly I'm interested to hear what Megasquirt setups people have on Rover V8s. Secondly; I'm reading for a project to create a MS3x system for fully sequential spark and fuel on a GEMs 4.6. What experience have people of doing this with non EDIS systems and also has anyone successfully read in the ...

Hi,

Thanks for that. The rating for the pump that I saw is probably worst case end of life. I'd seen the 6.5 figure somewhere before too.

I'll PM you for your sheet. I've got a fair way though my loom now but it's always good to see fresh perspectives.

Thanks.

ccts i/p's & o/p's. I'm assuming inputs and outputs for the latter but what is ccts? It's what ever comes on the 95 Land Rover Discovery V8i. Pump appears to be Delphi ESR3926 (FG2000412B1)in tank level sender and pump. That appears to be rated at 10.5A. Injectors are ERR722. On the following link ...

I appreciate the purpose of the fuse is to protect the wiring. These components were on different circuits on the donor. I'd assumed this was to create some separation of the potentially electrically noisy pump and injectors from the ECU? Either way can if any one can offer information on the expect...

RV8 Hotwire 14CUX: Current for Pump, Injectors, ECU?

Hi All,

Any one got reliable figures for the current that the Pump, Injectors, and ECU take on average and peak? I'm trying to size fuses and there were other components on the same fuse on the donor so those fuses are likely to be overkill!

Thanks.

Just planning a loom for a 4x4 at the moment which is proving to be an education! While many looms don't fuse the starter or alternator I see little reason why you shouldn't consider it now. You can also get fused battery terminals that offer protection at up to 500A. That's excessive for the 1.8kW ...

Thanks again for the information. Good observation on the tappets. that would drive me nuts! I've seen that there are oiling issues to contend with in the LS3 lumps: http://rennlist.com/forums/racing-and-drivers-education-forum/666083-corvette-track-grenade.html While a 4x4 may not pull that sort of...

Argh.

"Slow burn"

Torquey v8 build for an auto 4x4. Very poor accidental play on words.

Thanks for the feedback and information, it's been a great help & interesting. This is a slow burn project but it is happening! So the blower cam reduces overlap which in turn gives better torque at lower rpm? The real steel page recommends the lifters that pump up at around 3000rpm. Would this comb...

Yeah, just read through a big thread on a LS into a Defender. A lot of work in addition to the cost. So ignoring the LS route is cross bolting with the smaller journal crank worth doing? Likewise studs for the heads and mains? LS into a defender thread: http://www.ylrc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19...

At the risk of looking like I'm talking to my self I'm not 100% against the idea of transplanting to an LS engine but I'm aware that's not a simple swap. If I were to do that is there ways of bolting it to the standard autobox or bolting a transplanted autobox and engine to the same transfer box? I'...
