Re: 3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8

No problem Garry, I've clocked your monica and I'll refrain from contributing to your threads in future. Good luck jumping through hoops to make your car worse than it currently is, I hope it all goes well for you. Thanks for that. The reality is of course if I wanted to know about ECU and Injectio...

Re: 3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8

Hey lets stop the discussion on EDIS and dizzy-less ignition right here - lets stick to questions I have asked and not divert. I am not interested in going this route at the moment. To those who have tried to provide information on the main topic - thanks. I had not considered that there would be is...

3.9V8 Timing Cover on a 4.6V8

I have a 4.6V8 fitted to a vehicle that was originally fitted with a 3.5. It has the 3.5 carbs and inlet fitted but still has the 4.6 timing cover - is currently running an EDIS 8 module on the 10 BTDC default mode and actually runs well. I was intending to but MegaJolt in it to control the ignition...

Re: Replacing fuel hose

Why not just replace the rubber hose with more modern hose with a rating that can handle E10?

Re: Crankcase Ventilation

Thanks to you for both your replies. Paul I did think about drilling the back of the block but as the 4.6 casting is different to the 3.5 casting I was worried I might drill into something I shouldn't do Yes Chris I know all about the Thor system so I thought I would model this on that system. Cheer...

Crankcase Ventilation

I have a 4.6 with older 3.5 manifold and 175CD carbs. I need to set up a crankcase ventilation system. Note the vehicle also has LPG so input air cannot be taken from between the LPG carb and the engine die to LPG fuel air mix being sucked into the crankcase with the resulting explosion risk in the ...

Re: offset grinding a 4.6 crank to reduce stroke?

If you cannot get a 4.6 go a 4.0 - same block etc - usable power difference between a good 4.6 and a 4.0 is not a lot.

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam

Load is critical for timing - which this simple list is missing. Your timing advance on your table is not changing with load - only RPM. Is it?? My the 3.5 RV8 fitted to 24v Landrover FC101s does not have a load input - eg vacuum advance and runs fine. The same with my Haflinger - no vacuum advance...

Re: EDIS timing map on stock rover v8 4.6 with 4.2 cam

I just googled Land rover V8 ignition curve - and all results show the max advance is between 30 and 35 degrees and that kicks in at about 3000rpm and stays there as revs increase.

Re: 87 Hilux, 3.5 RV8 Cooling query

Maybe you just have the wrong radiator cap on the radiator. My Land Rover has an overflow bottle that is lower than the the top of the radiator and is outside of the pressure area of the cooling system. When pressure in the system gets too high the cap releases pressure and fluid into the overflow b...

Re: Rover V8 Breathing

Yes 1 is described by Chris - in my 3.5 it goes to the heater tank of the radiator - it bleeds air out of the cooling system. On my engine (3.5 in a FC 101) Number 2 is the vacuum port for the brakes and Number 3 is the vacuum port for the center diff lock. These are manifold vacuum so are interchan...

Re: Cams & Rockers ?

Yes no reason at all - important to ensure the cam is run in correctly with the right run in oil - basically run the engine for about 25 minutes at 2500 rpm - then run in the engine normally - ie try to even out load when driving - no long light loads and no lugging loads.

Re: Pinned Liners

Can cause cracking in the block where the pinning is done. Why just reline with top hat liners.
