Re: Rpi engineering kickdown linkage

Thanks I fitted the kickdown linkage yesterday and found it has enough travel so it's fully in when the throttle is closed and fully out a full throttle. Set it up like that and works well. I had it cable tied to my throttle pedal before and it was never spot on.

Rpi engineering kickdown linkage

Is anyone using the above linkage with the edelbrock carb on a ZF4HP22 gearbox? Just ordered one for mine and was wondering how best to set it up and how well does it work?

Re: Not quite a car but V8 powered

The trikes been on the road 18 months now but I found the Range Rover sump didn't allow enough ground clearance. Over the winter i replaced it with the original BMW sump. Had to guess how much oil to put in it but all seems to be working ok although noticed it gets a but hotter.

Re: MGB GT V8 Auto ZF 4HP22

Not into an MGB but have one in my trike. Great gearbox's, much smoother than the old BW's and better ratio's. Overdrive 4th and lock up torque converter makes for good legs on the motorway too. Only thing that's a bit odd is the tilt that the Rangerover bell housing gives it. Especially noticeable ...

Re: Rover V8 Ignition Upgrade

Just a thought. What spark plugs are people using with this upgrade?

Re: Rover V8 Ignition Upgrade

Ignore the above post. I fitted a Bosch blue coil this morning and it's nice and cool now. The old coil was 3ohm resistance and the Bosch is 6ohm.

Re: Rover V8 Ignition Upgrade

Just converted my ignition over to use this module but it's getting really hot! I mounted it on a stainless steel plate that's well earthed and used the supplied grease behind it. I'm running it with a Lucas 35dm8 dissy and the Lucas coil that's always been on it. Thinking of getting a Blue coil tho...

Re: Anyone able to set my timing? East Sussex

Cheers sidecar will do. Here's a video of how much play i had in the rotor arm! https://youtu.be/yQm6YiyIPc8 Think i have sussed out the timing marks on the pulley too. I have a TDC mark with -12 to +12degrees advance either side of it then further round is a notch cut into it and painted white, i o...

Re: Anyone able to set my timing? East Sussex

Found the problem! Took the dissy apart and it seems I'm not the 1st person to delve in there. Vac advance disconnected and so were the bob weights! I could move the rotor arm left and right quite a bit without it springing back. So basically it was just doing what ever it felt like :eek  Going...

Re: Anyone able to set my timing? East Sussex

It could be the cheap timing light and well insulated magnecore leads. Vac advance made a little difference but not much and tried it on both ports. Will have another look at it over the weekend when I've had more that 4 hours sleep.

Re: Anyone able to set my timing? East Sussex

Just had a look at my timing and its not really behaving as i'd expect it too. My pulley has a thick notch cut out of it and then further round anti clockwise it has some faint degree marks. The 0 on this someone has painted a white line. I double checked this is tdc by removing No1 plug and turning...

Re: Anyone able to set my timing? East Sussex

Thanks Sidecar I've heard similar stories about RPI and there ignition amps. My mate brought a complete engine from them last year and they were less than helpful when the distributor drive gear stripped after only a few hundred miles. Really looking forward to getting stuck in now and hopefully get...
