Thanks for the responses. It was indeed the crankcase breather setup.
I was running a pipe with only a flame trap straight into the front of the carb. Squeezed the pipe and it instantly ran better.
If anyone can recommend a decent PCV valve I'd be very appreciative!

Edelbrock 500 4.6 Rover V8 Setup
Hello there. Having trouble getting my Edelbrock to idle nicely. One moment it idles fine, then i drop the clutch to come up to a junction the revs rise to 1500 and stay there until I blip the throttle. I've checked it's returning properly. Vacuum to the distributor is on the correct port. Dunno!!
