I have the Accel leads and so far I am happy with them, but I have hardly used the car this year. They are a bit fragile, but it seems managable. One thing is certain, I am never going back to those Beru things - the new ones TVR parts are selling are nothing like as good as the old ones - the plast...

Yes, I changed the rear hood on my Griffith a few years ago when the same thing happened to me. It was tricky, but not impossible. It took most of a day, but it looks like a factory fit item. Buy the right impact adhesive - most of the common ones don't have a sufficiently high temperature rating - ...

There is method in the madness. I have no easy access to a lift or a transmission jack but do have a large engine hoist I used for my TVR. I am fairly happy with the breathers and rings so doubt there is too much wrong with the bottom end although I will obviously do a compression test first. Thanks...

I know the cam can be done with the engine in place. But the flex plate and rear crank oil seal requires either transmission or engine removal. And since the engine requires work and the transmission doesn't it is an easy decision. As far as I can tell Mark Adams can reprogram the Motronic ecu now s...

Cam for Thor (motronic) P38

I need to change the flex plate in my P38 and it seems easier to remove the engine than the gearbox given the equipment I have and the amount of leaks of just about everything the engine has. While it is out I thought it might be a good idea since it's done 110k miles to change the cam and associate...

Unfortunately, there's no guaranteed way of not having to do some working out yourself - there are lots of variables such as fuel pressure and what ECU drive electronics you have and what voltage everything runs at. Someone with the same ECU would get pretty close, but it's not going to be perfect. ...

Probably right. My unused cars all show up as sorned. Not sure I completely trust the DVLA database though.

Looking for my father-in-law's old Rover SD1

It is a Moonraker blue E plate Rover SD1 Vitesse (one of the last SD1s ever registered) E735LJT. It was sold to an enthusiast many years ago and has not been taxed for a good few years so it is probably scrapped by now, but you never know what unfinished projects are lurking in people's garages... I...

I had V8 Developments sort my TVR engine block out. I visit Lincolnshire quite a lot since my parents live there so they were very convenient. I have absolutely no complaints about any of the work (after a grand total of 34 miles on the new engine!!)

Happiness is a TVR that doesn't overheat when sat in rush hour traffic. :)

The Range Rover configuration would seem to be a substantial improvement over standard operation.

Cutting a long story short, I took the Griff for an MOT yesterday and it passed first time. No advisories. Now need to finish the tuning and run the engine in.

I will dig out the remaining pictures and stuff at some point.

Found a couple of things... But nothing that explains everything yet.

One of the thermocouples in the exhaust was leaking a bit, so I fixed that. No significant change.

The car had its MOT today (and passed) so I can get some miles on it and get to the bottom of the problems.

There's a couple of places on the inlet manifold I can't easily get to with easy start. It's non-standard - a single cylinder tract leaking might explain the symptoms - the lambda would then average to being "slightly wrong" over 4 cylinders when it's really 1 being a lot wrong. The lean side is alw...

I think there must be a mechanical issue... I fear you are right. I am resigned to taking the inlet manifold off tomorrow afternoon to see if I can pressurise it and see some leaks. I can deal with the valley gasket oil seal at the same time and have a look at the exhaust. The cam and valve train a...
