I think the issue you may have is with the header tank height (subaru?) ~ it's not really any higher then the inlet manifold so allowing for expansion level will not ensure fluid in manifold / heads? I made up small tank to clip on plenum, with Cliffs front mounted coil pack arrangement so room abov...

I prefer the Cerb/Citroen/Alfa stat to the P38. It's metal and can just bypass the Rad. Putting an expansion tank up on the plenum worked really well, with vents from the swirl tank and extra bleeds in the manifold (old throttle take off + 2 tapped into head water way at rear of manifold). For extra...

I have chevy hydraulic lifters in the Escort so i guess the lifter diameter is the same as Rover ?? It's not the .842" lifter bore thats the problem, its the spacing between the lifters and the lift that defines the link bar length & slot length. If they are not correct the articulation will not al...

...use Chevy aftermarker roller tappets (link bar type).. Are the Chevy lifter bore sizes the same so that the link bars have the correct spacing and slot suitable for lift? IMHO forget the factory fit link bars & get rollers that have 'clip on' link bars, at least then you can make up the link bar...

For 3.9's there are 5 piston/block bore grades: std = nom size to + .0075mm A = .0075 - .0150 B = .0150 - .0225 C = .0225 - .0300 D = .0300 - .0375 (Grades should be shown on crown & block face) I think this is why there is occasionally confusion over the different specs used for the RV8 bore - 3.7"...

Don't overlook that the location of the pressure sensor is quite important. For some reason TVR put their serp sensor in the oil cooler take off tapping immediately on the pump exit ~ hence seeing the maximum measurable pressure in the engine? Difference between the sensor & switch locations can be ...

This article should have all the tech explanation you require: http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engine/hrdp_1103_how_to_hot_rod_any_engine/viewall.html 'Nascar' rods really require custom pistons made, better to go all Chevy (302/5 pistons & small journal rods) and select a stroke to suit the deck...

Are you sure about what you are saying? Sounds possibly like its just a 3.9 small journal, but the usual faffing over the thrust bearing (bottom half plain). go on then whats the thrust bearing faff? can standard 3.9 mains be modded? i am a 3.5 man, larger v8s a bit new to me. The 'note' on: http:/...

Some spring is still needed even with solid spacer tubes IMHO, all you are doing is to try & remove the gross lateral movement that the original springs require, but I think you still need to consider: - Thermal expansion - Trying to keep rocker arm sideways movement limited - Friction on the sides ...

The seal is pressed in (its removed to change the cam bearings BTW) ~ but I was just beinga little flippant anyway - just forgot the ';)' seemed very odd that you had nearly 1/4" play. Cam shaft machining for the 3.9 & 4.0/4.6 style are a bit different and seem to result in varying aftermarket toler...

Sounds to me like the seal at the back of the cam hasn't been seated deeply enough.

I wouldn't worry as long as the cam spins freely with the chain fitted.

I made my own for KB's including the central pedestals, cost around £130 at local engineers made up in aerospace alloy.

Can send you the drawings if you want. I also have the dims for alloy spacers to replace the springs (just fit spring shim washers to allow for expansion).

ISTR 'common' Ford Cosworth collets & keepers are suitable for the REC triple groove valves plus double valve springs.
