Just looking into the Jag V8 and looks an ace engine. http://www.super7thheaven.co.uk/Jaguar-AJ-V8 To double check though: the engine you have is a NA V8? and you want to fit the supercharger to it? Well the NA 4.0V8 has a compression ratio of 10.75:1 and the supercharged 4.0V8 has a cr of 8.9:1! Y...

I think we're talking about two different things here! I think you refering to the throttle potentiometer which is located on the spindle?. this tells the ecu how open and how fast the throttle is opened. I'm talking about an idle control valve which is a valve which bleeds air past the thr...

Just to note, the MG/rover throttle body doesn't have the idle control valve built in, it is seperate with a hose connecting it. Tom. fair point, may use 2 52mm TBs from a 1.8l k-series then, as the iacv is built in on that and quite happy to be run from an emerald as they are plug and play with ME...

Have you thought of how you will control the idle speed? Would be nice and neat to get a throttle body with an ICV built in. The later rover V8's had the ICV built in with the throttle housing, these can be bored to 70mm but are not a seperate body although maybe could be modified. As regards size ...

Throttle Bodies...

Hi Guys as you know from my previous thread im putting an XKR 4.0 engine into my Lotus Excel... one of the oddities of the Jag lump was that it was throttle by wire... so i have binned off the original TB and was hoping to find a replacement cabled throttle body that i could use with the supercharge...

good to see another owner on here! Hi Denis! any info on your car? Oz Hi Oz. Mines nowhere near your intended spec, I just wanted a little better road car, mechanical-wise, than the standard one. Had my 1976 Elite for over 30 years now. Many moons ago Spydersport did a special chassis for the Elite...

With those weights and expected power output I dont see why you wont exceed the mph per second target in a straight line. But you will need sticky tyres to do it ?? :) normal tyre of choise is R1-R, which i run on this car and on my MGF... the MGF is my wifes "fun" car, which she had the head porte...

I have to say I love the idea of an old lotus going like a super car today, so good luck with the project...... but to be brutaly honest with you, if you are going to the expence of rebuilding the W58 box and having an adapter made it seams silly not to get a 154 as that will not need to be rebuilt...

Nice looking project. I will leave all the technical stuff to the other guys  As for aims of 0-100 in 10 seconds then why not? Power to weight seems like its going to be adequate. All comes down to grip and gearing after that really. For some comparison, my TVR hits 100 in 7.5 now. Weighs in ...

Hi while the jag produces good torque across the rev range, it is not a rover that runs out of puff at 5.5K revs. I would not gear it too high as the jag will rev to 7.5K and really is most fun above 4000 revs I really would keep it pretty low geared to keep it fun. Best regards Mike this was the r...

Hi Oz, Great project. In case you are not aware, you need to keep receipts etc for the proposed engine as DVLA will/may ask for proof of origin , ie doner car details etc., and sometimes an engineers report. They do this to deter guys who try to get a lower road tax band by claiming they have insta...

As you have engine and box, the simplest thing to do as far as I see it is to have a quick measure up and see if you can stick the two together with a simple engine plate adaptor, rather than a full bell housing. If that is the case then a drawing of the required plate will enable you to get a suit...

seems im slightly off with my figures - from racing green website: Supercharger pulley upgrade Designed to boost supercharger speed and hence performance. The upgrade involves installing a larger supercharger drive pulley mounted on a modified crankshaft pulley; the conversion includes replacement of...
