Spinning ok with plugs removed takes much less current, could be the starter, or solenoid contacts or even an ignition timing thing (try with coil disconnected but plugs in, in case a severely over advanced ignition is causing it). Has this just happened or are you trying to fire up a newly built e...

Starter problems

Think my starter needs looking at as it's barely turning the engine over with a good battery attached and 180amp boost charger. Does anyone know where to buy a service/re con kit? It's a RV8 SD1 engine circa 1980.

Whining 4 speed

Got the chance of a cheap P6 V8 4sp manual box, all works fine except on down change, it whines quite a bit, seems okay under load, is it fixable at a resonable cost? possible causes anyone? Thanks in advance.

It says 50 amps Any more than that and it will get hot That said my understanding is that you could run two strands Ian I will be running 2 from the alternator, as I understand that is how it's supposed to be done but needed a 2nd opinion to be sure. Rather go a bit too big than not big enough and ...

Engine in with body, at last

Finally managed to get the body on the Dutton, at long last. Took a lot of cutting the fibreglass and huge amounts of swearing but got it done. Now I have to wire up and rebuild the floor and bulkhead, what joy.Image

Saw this on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Auto-Marine-THIN-WALL-Cable-6mm2-5m-long-xxx6TW-5-/110636541282?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6277743823089507265 and wondered if it would be okay for the alternator? 2 prongs on back, 65amp output.

Hopefully this will save confusion as to what hole it is, I'm sure it's a waterway.
