SD1 front cover and pump - on the list
Camshaft - not sure on make or spec yet. Ideally I want lots of torque in the midrange.

4.6 engine swap into p6b

Hi all, I've scoured different forums and book of faces and I thought I'd make a list of everything that I'll need to swap in a 4.6 into my p6b. Ron and others, can you chime in with your experiences and thoughts on what I'll need? Engine: 4.6 block - top hat linered heads - I have SD1 heads and 4.6...

nah! It's been done by a few p6b guys and to be honest, the rear end of a p6 is so typical of British engineering. Over engineered where it doesn't need it, critically under-engineered where it needed strength. The input shaft into the diff is barely thicker than my finger. wtf! I'll more than likel...

Why not do the whole engine, including the Efi? That way, you have the coil packs and ECU etc, meaning you have some wiring ( OK, a lot of wiring) changes to make, but you will end up with a very nice set-up. There is a thread about your question, either here or on the Rover Forum, and, there are a...

Q: want to build a 4.6 to put in a p6b, so obviously I need an SD1-ish front cover as well so that I can run a distributor.

Is there a good source where I can read up on what bits I need? ie retaining plates etc, what's all that about?

Hey Mike, yes, you make absolute and total sense, but one day I'd like to build a two door wide body P6b with throttle body style EFI and a manifold like that would be perfect. I just know that I'll pass up on that aluminum manifold and then circumstances will change and I'll kick myself for not buy...

thanks chaps, yeah I didn't like some of the sharp corners either. this is the aluminum one. A lot of coins for something that may sit on my shelf for years until I find a cheap 4.6 block http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ROVER-V8-3500-P76-BUICK-215-QUAD-DELLORTO-DRLA-WEBER-IDF-MANIFOLDS/281375211159?_trks...

Quad weber steel inlet manifold - any good?

This has popped up, seller says it has no brand marks on it and it looks like it has been ceramic coated? It's also steel, not aluminum. I was thinking of buying it for the "one day" motor in my head, but I'm not sure whether I should hold out for an aluminum one. There's one for sale for only a few...

on another train of thought, have any of you guys got a parts catalog for Bilstein shocks that has a Rover p6 listed?

I'm trying to find the part numbers for Bilsteins. (or even a supplier).

Cheers guys for the replies. Funnily enough, a bloke with a p6b on the Rover forum has come to grief in fitting AVO's - the plastic bushes were completely out of whack at one end. Ideally I'd just go for Koni's, but I can't seem to find a supplier online and the Aussie distributor in my city is appa...

Hi mike

that's what I gathered from my reading, that you can spend a truckload on the p6b heads and you'd still be behind.

second newbie question, will the p6b rocker covers fit on SD1 heads?
