Re: Rover V8 into Sprite/MG Midget

Well it has been a long time since I was on this site and a lot has been happening.....but I still have the "Super Sprite V8"! A house move, part time job finish, car storage re location, various car sales and the odd purchase has meant no time to do any work on the Sprite since it went to the NEC.....

Hi Pel
There is a website for the magazine but I am more familiar with chain links than computer links!
I'm sure someone else on here can do the computer trickery.......... :?

Super Sprite V8 - Dec Retro Car Magazine

My car was photographed by Ade (AB Carpix) back in the summer and an article has appeared in the Dec issue of Retro Cars. Fame and Fortune have not yet followed....but it was nice to see the write up.

sorry for delayed reply - but if you are using a hydraulic cam it should be "kinder" to the valve seats and so should be ok.

Years ago I fitted larger valves and had the valve seats and throats bored larger to suit. However I was also using a solid lifter cam and stronger valve springs - when I was racing the seat inserts started to pound into the head casting and soon the valves would not seat and leaked.......

Hi Pete
I've used tubes on my Rover V8's and "A" series engines. There is a minute! reduction in friction. There are no expansion problems as the heads expand more than the rocker shaft assemblies because the heads run at a higher temp.
