Can't help you with calculations but it's more often or not linked to what will fit. There is a big and a small filter for the v8, one is for the car and the big one is land-rover. Not sure it even matters much given how these things are ran these days. They aren't exactly ran for 20000 miles betwee...

Unless you pay photobucket money it wont work anymore. They changed their rules and forums all over the place have lost millions of pics. Dropping the oil is an OK thing to do but might not tell you much and if its white you will see it on the dip stick and in the top of the heads anyway. If it comes out white you know you have a problem but if its ok doesn't mean you don't have a problem. It could be leaking into the bore via a crack...
