Breather system

Breather system on a Rover v8 with 4-barrel. My system has a breather hole in each rocker cover. I’ve connected one rocker cover to the vacuum port of the carb with an in-line PCV valve. The other rocker cover has one of those little K and N filters on so is effectively open. The PCV valve works bec...

Thanks. You’ve prompted me that using a MAP sensor would be a good idea. I made a MAP to MAF interface many moons ago so should have a couple kicking around. Thinking outloud it should be possible to use a linear potentiometer to measure throttle position quite easily. The wide-band sensor I’ve sour...

Yes sidecar, looks like it should be able to give me some readings to play with the carb from! WOT! I know I must be getting old but vary rarely use it; this might of course be that the WOT settings are so out! It pulls so well low down; if I could get it to keep that torque above 3k rpm I might cha...

I've just sneaked out between the rain with the standard rods; literally a few seconds of throttle on the straight and it seems better. It wasn't necessary WOT it was when opening the secondary throttle plates (again it feels like that as you could switch the effect on/off mid throttle). Trouble is ...

Edelbrock secondary opening causes pinking?

Very very impressed with the Edelbrock 4-barell carb. Finally on the road. My only concern is it appears I only need 2 barrels! I get loads of power and acceleration from 0 to 50% throttle application. Above that the induction noise changes (sounds like a chug-clug really) and I suspect its heavy pi...

I know; it’s a little thing and actually seals OK. I had a leak was from the temperature sensor I only hand tightened when seeing if everything fitted and a valley gasket leak (re-used old composite gasket!). For some reason the connections don’t have a bugle on the end and are smooth. Scrap yard hu...

Typical…instructions taped to the side of the manifold box (which also contained a selection of USA newspapers to read!!!). Would have saved me the trouble of fitting it and then realising the rocker covers don’t fit! I also have a very slight coolant weep from one of the head ports. I reused a 2k m...

additional hole / lug on offy inlet manifold?

Hi Guys, had to grind off a section of aluminium for this lug to clear the rocker covers! What's it for. I am going to make a little bracket to bolt on for attaching the throttle return springs; but the size of the hole suggests it might have had a different use originally. I guess it's from the old...

custom coolant hose

Hi guys, is there a off-the-shelf hose for the connection between water-pump and inlet manifold. I am not that happy with my silicone coolant hose 'fix' at the moment; it's leak-tight for now but doesn't look "right". http://www.tr7v8.org.uk/v8forum/coolant_hose_manifold.jpg I would have though this...

My old 3.5 had the same...but once nice a not it would move and hit the cylinder head with piston strokes! I suspect it can't have been an original liner as I also read this never happened!

coolant path through heads...blocking off rear two paths

Just installed a offenhauser inlet manifold. The rear two water ways are blanked off; why is this and does it cause the rear cylinders to get hot?

Thanks Mike. I was expecting to only find one set drilled and tapped but no all 8 holes are duplicated in all parts. I am guessing this is due to making everything compatible with a different make of carb/inlet. Holly maybe? Looking forward to the weekend to bolt it all together. The last piece of t...

4 barrel carb. studs

Silly question of the day. Edelbrock carb. to inlet manifold. There are 8 locations for the studs on both the carb. and inlet…I know it won’t make any real world difference but should I use the inner or outer set of 4? I am thinking outer?
