Re: Ign. Pick-up

Hi Dave, Good point but not here. When I dumped the original amp from the side of the dizzy I joined a thin 2-core cable to the wiring of the pick-up. This was done by soldering the two joints and covering them ( insulating ) with heat shrink sleeving. This cable then goes direct to the amp that is ...

Re: Ign. Pick-up

Thank you Gentlemen for your replies. GDCobra ... I am talking about a coil of wire - the pick-uo - if it hasn`t got continuity the resistance must be infinity, i.e. open circuit. Dave, Thanks for those readings a useful point to remember. I checked my multimeter on the Ohms reading with a 4700 4K7 ...

Ign. Pick-up

Have I missed something here ...... Today I was going to fit a new Dizzy pick-up and base plate unit ( Rimmer part No. RTC 5090P1 ) this is OEM unit NOT the "Britpart" cheapest or the Original very expensive unit either, a middle range job? At £80+ it should be a decent replacement. Before I begun t...

Re: A spray job

Dave, Thanks for the reply. The aerosol can states its a metallic paint though I would say it is far from the best out there. However, I have had pleasing results in the past though I was spaying on top of an already same colour coat. The use of aerosols and the amount needed will require an order f...

A spray job

I am about to start sorting my boot lid - it needs a respray. I intend to go back to bare metal and start there. the problem now is the use of aerosols from (say) Halfords. The colour is Ford Paris Blue a light metallic so a gray primer is required - yes? Am I right in thinking a etch primer will be...

Re: rover v8 cylinder head rear unused water ways

Nick, Like you I use the P6 pump and like you the flow through the heater cannot be turned off. My return from the heater is connected to the rad top hose via a Tee. The connection at the pump is now not used and blanked off. The by-pass hose must always be used. When you look at the pump the return...

I agree with all the above regarding that one alone Pos connection.

However just to throw another answer into the bag .......... Suppression for the voltage regulator.
It would stop that high wine you might get while tuned to the BBC classic music channel.

Many thanks Coops, it`s good to know you will keep this forum going. As a gold member I pay my £12 per year and I am happy to do so as I think it well worth the info I have had from the forum. Yes I know I don`t have to pay but then I look at it as a way of repaying my debt for the info freely given...

Phill, Accordibg to the haynes car electrics manual that stud is a Pos that you don`t have or need to use. It has an insulator so it must be a positive. The other connections are thus: the smaller of the three is from your ignition via the ignition light. The other two are the positive, however thou...

Oh come on, wake up and smell the coffee. This is the U.K. and you expect service, you`ll be wanting good manners next. The dealerships will soon come back begging once the interest rates go up. As a rule of thumb I ignore all comments that state a `phone call will be forthcoming they rarely ...

A hose that is cracking on the outside is probably an old stock or rubbish. If all the other hoses are still fine then it can`t be anything in the engine bay that`s causing the problem ......... well that is what I would have thought though I have been wrong before. I use an electric fuel pump, the ...

Hi Scott, Petrol now contains some Ethanol, I think the percentage is a matter of brand, however it is not a good idea to use standard fuel hose. You require the Ethanol Ok type. The standard fuel hose slowly gets eaten resulting in the odd leak. Car Builder Solutions can supply at £10 / metre of 8m...
