Edelbrock Accelerator Cable RB7278

Rimmer Bros seem to be the only place in the UK I can see that sell an accelerator cable for the Edelbock 500 CFM 4 barrel carb, but it's quite expensive so I'm wondering if this is the only option or what other people have done? Can you make a bracket and use a standard MGB cable? http://www.rimmer...

3.9 Rover V8, Edelbrock 500 or 390 CFM?

It's that time in my rebuild that I need a carb. My motor is a fairly stock Rover 3.9 (standard camshaft etc) and will be used in my MGB for road and sometimes fast road use. I have heard that the 500CFM is a bit big but can be jetted down, though the 390CFM is about right for my application. So, wh...

I'd rather go puller too, but no worrm for it so I will try and go with 1 big pusher, I just don't want to lose too much area with a big motor.

I'll be going with the bonnet louvres too :)

Ah makes sense now, sometimes it doesnt like forum to forum linking. I didn't like that one with the restrictive mounting either, so don't worry I wasn't going for that one, and as I suspected the two mini fans wouldnt do much at all! Incidentally, can you give me more details on the alternator setu...

I'm lucky that my car had a fabricated S/S tank thats a bit squarer but narrower than the std tank too, but I will get reflective on the sides of it. I usually scour eBay for stuff, just haven't gotten to the interior yet ;) Haha I find MG Exp pretty good, the standard MGB section can be a bit like ...

Wow, I just browsed through your thread and loved it. Will definitely read in more detail later! I got some ideas too, like the fuel tank heat reflection. I had considered doing that but now I will for sure. I take it you are running twin pipes? Mine is a messy build compared to yours, but it's bein...

Will do, my engine is going to be about 200BHP but obviously the bar will be over engineered for the task so would suit your 250bhp application.

Will be next year now, but will definitely post pics.

Thanks both, food for thought.

Perry, when you say the 'usual' front bracket do you mean one similar to the Clive Wheatley one that goes from the front cylinder head to chassis rail?

Dave: There is, but I'd rather an electric fans. v8250: Thanks for the post :) I'm at a pretty advanced stage with the installation now and I have gone with Block Huggers. In hindsight maybe I shouldnt have but I'm working with what I have now. I have the book and have used the early timing cover so...

Thanks Richard,

I'm aware pull is much better, but the issue with the MGB V8 is clearance, so I dont think there'll be room to fit a puller unless I can get a Buick 300 water pump, and where would I find one in the UK?

Thank you guys, I'll not waste money on a waterpump.

Mine is a 3.9 litre, and I'm intending running a stock V8 radiator with a kenlowe style fan rated to about 3000cfm in front of it. I also plan on using as big an expansion tank I can use, will this be adequate for a mild/fast road car?

Thanks Dave, so you're basically saying if my Radiator is up to scratch, the standard water pump is fine?
