Re: A pair of classic P6 Rovers

It came from a company called TM Transmissions in the Midlands, who seem to have since ceased trading. Hey ho.

Re: A pair of classic P6 Rovers

After a year of fun, the gearbox seized. My mechanic had a peek inside. Carnage. His diagnosis is that the oil pump had never worked since the box was rebuilt and sold to me with a warranty, and had survived on splash oiling alone.

The US export P6 was fitted with a different air filter box to the UK and European market cars. It features a cold air intake that meets the long scoop on the middle of the bonnet. It also has a warm air feed from a collector around the driver's side exhaust manifold. The cold/warm air mixture is co...

Passed the first TÜV this week with no advisories. Two years of V8 motoring since I got the car back on the roads, lots of little niggles corrected, no major problems, now has Kenlowe push fan in front of new rad, next project is to install an LT77 5-speed gearbox.

It has been quite a while since I've been on the forum, and even longer since I started taking my '72 P6 apart with a view to restoring her! I'm delighted to report that my project is now more-or-less finished, apart from a few little niggles! I very much hope to get it through the very strict TÜV (...

Many thanks to Ged, who kindly made me three of these otherwise impossible to find 'special' bolts out of stainless. Excellent. Another problem solved through this useful forum and it's helpful members. :D

Rover P6 part no. 610029 special bolt 3/8 UNC x 1 1/8"

Hello chaps. Hope somebody on here can help me. I'm looking for two more of the 'special' bolts with which to attach a warm air collector to the driver's side exhaust manifold of my Rover P6 3500. Three of these bolts attach the manifold to the cylinder head, they have a long hex section which is th...

What fuel filter in 10mm fuel line before RV8 SU carbs?

I've just fitted an electric fuel pump underneath my V8 Rover P6, retaining the reserve tap. I've run 8mm nylon fuel line underneath the car and up into the engine bay, which then becomes ID 10mm rubber fuel hose along the top of the engine, under the driver side carb and across the intake manifold ...

...years later, and I'm still not finished! I decided to strip the 'unmolested' car when it turned out to have been bodged and blown over for a quick cash sale. Figured I could cannibalize the best bits of both cars to make one really good one. Got stuck right in and tore it all apart, back t...

Hi Joakim Look forward to hearing if you do have the headlamp wash wipe set-up! Any chance of some photos of the 14" Rostyles? I found some time to carry on reassembling my P6 restoration today. Got the intake manifold, carbs, valve covers, throttle linkage, alternator and bracket back on the engine...

Hello Swede. Interesting projects! The 'S' version of the P6 3500 has a narrower transmission tunnel than the automatic version. Easier to swap a manual box into an auto body shell, and the auto prop fits behind a 5 speed LT77 manual box without needing to be shortened. Surely the cast iron block an...

Hello Ron
Thanks for confirming that the thread size is the same on both oil pressure transmitters. I've ordered the correct P6 item now, and hope that it will function properly and show a nice healthy oil pressure reading when my engine transplant is complete! See you on the other forum!
