THREAD SIZES FOR ENG STAND

Hi Got my engine stand last week, finnaly getting close to putting it all back together :D Can anyone tell me the thread sizes for the bolts for the bellhousing/engine so I can get some long enough to mount the engine on the stand? Lazy I know, but would save a bit of buggering around :D Cheers Brian

Nice Job Chris! :D

Glad to see you managed to get the bosses welded in and sealed up! All in all a very smart install and methinks a fair bit better than most pro installers would be able to do :D

Well done and thanks for sharing!

ENGINE STANDS

Hi Just looking on e-bay at engine stands as I'm finaly getting close to assembling the new engine. Just wondered if anyone has one of the sealy stands and what model/size? Thanks Guys

I think it must be as SPEND said, last of the pre serps (no doubt LR using up whats left in the parts bin before they used the newer setup lol)

Either way, its still a good engine and complete hotwire setup for spares so worth having :D

Thanks for all the input as usual!

Cheers :D

Hi Guys Well, the block has the castings for the cross bollts, it has a polly v on the alternator but a std v belt on the crank pulley? Think it may be a 'bitsa' engine with a pre serp cover, but as I have never seen one thats why I asked! lol  Too busy to look today (lots of kids munching cho...

intermediate oil pumps

Hi guys Well I've just bought another 3.9 V8 disco (for spares) and this one has the polly 'V' belts and a dizzy so I'm guessing that its an intermediate engine? Does this setup use the later rotary oil pump? If so, is it worth me using it on my new build engine rather than the old gear type pump? A...

thanks guys

was pretty much as I thought, I always leave a non polished finnish on ports and had never worried about polishing combustion chambers unless I had modified the shape. I will just give em a clean up once I have finnished the blending then.

As always, thanks for the info :D :nw

polishing combustion chambers?

Just a quicky here guys,

I'm just removing/blending the lip in the combustion chambers from the valve seat inserts and just wondered if its worth polishing the chambers to remove possible hotspots and to help reduce carbon build up as I'm half way there anyway now?

Hey coops I'm pretty sure it wont be any good to you, but I will have a spare 3.9 block/crank rods in a few weeks once I pull it out. The block seems to be fine, no overheating but cant inspect as still in car at the moment. I was going to use it to play with but if any bits or all of it could be co...
